price / performance ratio of the item you mentioned is more than OK.
ngayon kung gusto mo talagang OK na setup dyan, mas mataas ang price.  eto sunod kong tanong, magkano ba budget natin?  :D

Nagkaroon din ako ng 805 before. Mataba, weighty, impactful at nasa warm side yung sound niya compared sa 809. Yung 809 sounds brighter, leaner and mas madetalye.

Meron dun video settings.

Malamang wala Jamy.  Set-up Menu Overlay is ON by default kung meron.  Make up your mind habang BAKA puede mo pang palitan ng mas bago.

BTW, since you are using a VT30, no need to bother about the AVR's video processing.  Magaling na yung TV mo sa video processing, and malamang, magaling na ring yung graphics card ng PC mo.  Although it's good to try for the sake of science.  I had tried video processing with the 1008 and the 809 but eventually turned it OFF and set to PASS-THROUGH - no need.

As for the 3008, merong overlay for some of the settings (listening modes, quick audio/video setting changes, etc). But for the complete setup menu (speaker settings, levels, etc), black screen na. Kaso may HDMI handshake issue when it switches back to my HTPC hehehe

so far wala handshake issue sa akin bro.  Switching between standyby mode,ON via xbox and htpc, on the fly ang switching.  Pretty much like my denon :)

bro alan ok lang naman since i wanted a pass thru mode sa video.  Not really a fan of onkyo or any other receivers vidro processing.  Lalo na at ang ganda ng tv natin :P

I'm using Win7 64-bit + ATI HD 5450 for my HTPC. I lose audio when I switch back from the setup menu. Sometimes when I pause the movie and resume, nawawala rin. It switches to analog (based on the front panel display) when I pause/cut the hdmi signal. Hindi maka-establish ng HDMI audio afterwards. I tried researching for possible solutions pero wala pa ako nahanap na nag-work. I can live with it naman. And I'm very happy with the SQ of the Onkyo (and the MultEQ XT32 sub processing) for HT. Hassle lang pag wife ko nanonood tapos nawawala audio, nagagalit sa 'kin haha ;D

Btw, it only happens with the HTPC. For the BD player, no hdmi handshake issue.

its quite normal bro, kasi kung digital audio (DD, DTS, HD audio) minsan talaga sa player na ng htpc natin.  for some reason di sila mag sync.  so far have not experience that with my current receivers.  but had that issue with my onkyo 508 and denon 1509 :)

Magkaiba tayo ng experience sir.. I'm also using an HTPC (calibrated and processed using AMD Catalyst) connected to an Epson 8700 projector but the PQ still improved a lot when I turned ON the video processing in my Onkyo 809.

Thanks for the feedback. I never experienced it with my Yamaha 663 though. Anyway, I'm all good with the Onkyo despite this minor issue :D

Try disabling the THX Ultra2/Select2 Subwoofer setting, then check if this makes the LPF of LFE option appear.
