Hi peeps! :) I notice that some Denon receivers, during setting up or calibration, they can seem to view details on the LCD screen. Why can't I? How is it connected? I own a 1509...can it be done with this receiver? ???

May tanung lang ako, I have Denon 2808 AVR, Mission floorstander, Mission Center and Mission Surround Speaker. Can you recommend a setting sa AVR para magamit ko mamaya during salubong? Walang base  :D

Delikado pang-salubong yan sir.

Medyo mahal kasi yung Denon.  Hindi yan pang-isports, pang-pamilya lang ...  :D

Buy cheap speakers, yung high impedance & high sensitivity.

Happy New Year!

Listen for distortion at low to mid volumes.  Crackling sounds are the giveaway.

If it's a torn cone or torn surrounds (suspension), you'll see it upon inspection.  They're caused by too much movement (overexcursion).  When the torn material vibrates, you hear some crackling sound.

Sometimes, there's no tear on the cone or surrounds, yet you still hear crackling.  That's usually caused by deformity resulting from overheating.  An overheated voice coil causes deformity; the deformity causes misalignment, causing the voice coil to rub/grind against something (maybe the center pole or magnet) as it vibrates; the rubbing/grinding causes the crackling sound.

Very convenient ang on-screen GUI.

For 2010, all Denon models have on-screen displays, but I think the lower models have a text-based OSD rather than a real GUI.   Siguradong meron din for all 2011 models, baka mas maganda pa.

Tamang-tama, wait for Denon's 2011 models, then upgrade.

That sucks brader Rasta! :(  Upgrade...? :D

yan din iniisip ko. pero wag muna. maybe near the end of the year or early next.

there are so much new innovations to come out sa ating mga entry level avr's.

hdmi1.4, ethernet (internet radio), iphone as remote control, etc.

kung merong mga ganito then it's worth the upgrade. pero it's more exciting for me to just wait and see what are the next big things. so far ok naman receivers natin e :D

Is it true that for music lovers, Denon is the AVR of choice (70% music, 30% movies)?
And saan ba nakakabili ng Denon?

sabi sabi lang yan, and the description kinda caught on.  ;D Who can really say say what "musical" is, right?  ;D if i'm not mistaken, 1 of the resident sellers was the first to review the top 3 receivers and he pitted them against each other (denon, onkyo, HK). and HK ended up as the winner for being the most musical. denon coming in a close second.

I just read lang kahapon a Denon was compared to its similar Onkyo model and though they both sound superb sa movies, slightly better ang SQ ng Denon using the same setup. So you mean HK is even better for music?

nopes sir. that's what they're saying since i don't have all 3 to compare. i also went for denon dahil sa being "musical" nga raw. maybe being musical is being more "dynamic"? who really knows.  ;D what i'm trying to say is, mahirap kumuha ng opinion if no one really has all the receivers in front of them to compare. so it's up to you to do that on your own by auditioning them yourself. it's better if you already have speakers in mind because they make the most difference in terms of SQ imo.
