After testing my cd buffer (courtesy of Jojo D) for more than a month now, I would say that it was one of the best decision I made in relation with improving the audio quality of my system.  It really complemented my gear (AMX 6L6 tube amp & Denon PCM-DCD 770 cd player) using a wharfdale 9.5 diamond series floorstanding speakers!

Thanks to Jojo for the patience in answering and explaining ALL my questions related to the tube buffer!!!! More so, of the option of using a NOS (with additional investment of course) tube.  Money well spent!!!!!!

Kudos to Jojo D!!!!!!!

Will this setup work if I connected an IPOD to it?  If yes, is there a major SQ improvement?

Yes it will work with an iPod but of course the quality will also depend on the way your files are encoded. A low bitrate file will always sound "synthesized" no matter what. I use aac at 320kbps for my collection before I transferring to my iPod.

won't it conflict with the "character" of the music when paired to a tube preamp?  my set up kasi is tube preamp then SS poweramp.  Won't the tube preamps have inherent characteristics to "buffer" the signal from the cdp when it goes through its inputs?

the objective of adding a buffer is for maximum power transfer from the buffer's input to output. hence, if youll be using the buffer inbetween your preamp and power amps, your preamp's capacity to deliver maximum power to you power amps will be improved.

how? the input impedance of a buffer is extremely high as its output impedance is extremely low. if this is not the case, then there will be no purpose of adding a "buffer".

How would you know this?
