^ That's why I grabbed them right away. One copy lang for each title. One rarely finds superbit releases nowadays.  Hopefully, I also get to spot Air Force One, Vertical Limit, and The Fifth Element soon.

Yes.  I have lots of Superbit titles and I'd say VERTICAL LIMIT has one of the best PQ/SQ among them.  Story wise, it's not as edgy and exciting as, say, Cliffhanger but not that bad either.  It'll keep you engrossed as long as you don't expect too much.  For it's sale price, I think it's worth owning just for the technicals alone.  It's a reference DVD to show off your HT setup.

Yes i have FHTE Superbit.  PQ's okay for a Black and White film.  Can't remember if its fullscreen or widescreen.  Parang fullscreen yata and the SQ is DTS but mono yata.  Didn't matter though as this is a very old film.  But among my B & W films I'd say the CASABLANCA 2 Disc is a better reference quality.  And it's not superbit mind you.  For another good title in Superbit I will highly recommend DESPERADO -  superb PQ and outstanding AUDIO!

I wished I had bought the superbit edition of Vertical Limit, Desperado and The Fifth Element when I saw their copies at Astrovision in viramall weeks back. I was waiting for the price to go down from 299 to say 199, thinking there were other copies in stock. Now, they're hard to come by . . .

The Fifth Element superbit edition also has great DTS.

The 2-disc Ultimate Edition is a better buy when it is on sale. It contains the Superbit version of the movie plus a special features disc.

Yeah, that's the one I have. But it's rare to find it on the shelves nowadays.

Speaking of...

cinemappostle,

If you still want a superbit edition of The Fifth Element there's one copy of it at Astrovision Robinson's Place, Manila. P299 lang, from what I recall. It's the 2-Disc Ultimate Edition.

Pm'd you na rin :)

May balita na ba ng upcoming sale? Though mukhang majority of those at P150, P199, P299 & so on stayed at that price even after the sale. Magkano na kaya mga yan sa next sale? P100 from P150? Hehehe..

There's an ongoing sale at ODYSSEY outlets.  Those imported Magnavision titles are selling at P100.  I think Astro is included but limited titles.  Mas madami sa Odyssey.

Yeah, I think they're taking a break. Next big "event" are the permanent price drops that are being implemented next month. Some older catalog titles and local DVD5s/9s will be marked down to Php100. That's the new price point to beat especially now that VCDs are steadily being phased out. Finally.

How true is this sir?

Php100 is true for older catalog releases: Aeon Flux (animated series), Kinsey, Squid and the Whale, London, etc.

The Php299 markdowns include the 2-disc releases of Ghost Rider, Ultraviolet, Da Vinci Code, and 1-disc titles like 30 Days of Night, Dreamgirls, Shooter, etc.
