I might be able to find out tomorrow.  The initial info I was given was that it will not be available in the Philippines.  I told my contact that's impossible!  I'll post the info if I get an update. :)

The news keeps on getting better...

It will arrive sometime February (latest) but the SRP is estimated to be at PhP180K (although it might sell for PhP160K).

Ipon na mga boys... ;)

Ako hindi na magi-ipon...dahil hindi ko maaabot yung PhP160K kahit mag-ipon ako.  ;D

Yeah and it seems that there will not be of much use for the 1080p AE1000 for the moment considering that only few 1080p discs are in the market. Some reviews reveal also that the upscaling of the 480p ordinary DVDs to 1080p by a 1080p projector does not show heaven and earth improvement compared to the upscaling to a 720p.

At 160k, ok na muna ako sa AE900. Besides, I plan to wait out till there is a clear winnder in the 1080p format war before I get a Hi Def DVDp. So I can wait  :)

1080p content no problem...HD releases are getting better by the minute....and you couldnt actually keep up.......yung price is what will set you back......and in my case....my 720p PJ is just 400 hrs old....pwedeng pwede pa... :)

195k is the MSRP which is 100 dollars lower than the MAP price in the US(minimum advertised price).180k might be the lowest price that a retailer can give. I really doubt 160k is achievable.

I am having second thoughts about this projector about its sharpness. 2 reviews have indicated that it is a tad less sharp than competing 1080p projectors. This is the most important factor for me. Other projectors of the same resolution are more expensive though. Its very hard to decide what to get right now ???

I just bought another projector but its not this one because of the lackluster review from some review sites. This just came in and just maybe I made a mistake not to wait for this one ;D

UPDATE [Fri, 12/15]: The original review of the Panasonic AE1000 was published on November 17 based on a late generation pre-production sample. We received a final production unit on Wednesday, December 13 which incorporates several important enhancements that were not present in the sample previously reviewed. All production units that have been shipped contain the updates, so buyers need not be concerned about whether a unit they get from a dealer is up to final standards.

The primary concern we had with the original unit we tested was a softness in the HD image. Due to this flaw we had rated the AE1000 4 stars in performance. However, Panasonic changed the lens and lens housing in the final production unit, and the softness problem has been completely eliminated. Its HD image is now as sharp as any 1080p projector we have seen to date. Accordingly, the performance rating has been raise to 5.0 stars, and the value rating, previously at 4.5, has been raised to 5.0.

With the last minute improvements to the final production models, Panasonic has delivered a phenomenal projector that stands out as a truly remarkable achievement, especially in light of its aggressive price point of $3,999. We are pleased to give it our strongest possible recommendation. [EP

confirmed this at projector central......it also stood at sa 1080p projector shootout involving optoma hd81, sony vpl-vw50, and mitsubishi hc5000.  in terms of value, performance and ergonomics (ease of use and set-up) this is hard to beat.......if only the 160k price tag goes much lower...... :)

How about the Panasonic Ax100? Its 2000 lumens, 600 contrast ratio @ 1080p & below 100k.

Is it different from the AE1000?

matt, native 720p lang yung ax100..its essentially an improved version of ae900....and brighter too, for use in rooms with ambient light... ;D ;D but looking at projcetor central's review:

Another capability that is new to many of the latest home theater projectors is the ability to accept and display a 1080p/24 signal. The AX100U will accept 1080p/24 as well as the more conventional 1080p/60. The 1080p/24 format is important because it will become a standard feature on many of the new high definition DVD players, HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Indeed, a couple of the Blu-ray players scheduled for release next month already have it.

The benefit of 1080p/24 transmission between the HD player and the projector is that it eliminates the need for 24 frame/sec film material to go through 2:3 pulldown conversion. This conversion has always been necessary to get film to synch with the 60 cycle displays that are part of the NTSC world. But with digital projectors being able to run at 24 Hz (or multiples thereof, 48 or 72 Hz), the conversion to 60 Hz is no longer needed. This will eliminate occasional artifacts such as judder in slow panning sequences and allow a smoother display of the film source. Once we acquire one of the new Blu-ray players with 1080p/24 output, we will do more testing to assess the degree to which this feature actually contributes to any incremental improvement in the viewing experience
