No idea. but probably near R1's November release date. Viva would be crazy to skip or delay a title like this... although it's single-disc nature (in R1 or R3) seems to indicate that a more-elaborate 2-disc version will come sometime in the future...

Definitely not a launch. One-disc din kasi sa R1. Although a 2-disc version in the future seems like a certainty...

Disney did that for High School Musical, a mere six months since the original 1-disc Encore edition. My guess is that when Pixar-Disney next picture comes around next summer, the 2-disc version will come... pure speculation on my part...

LXG was released as single disc in the U.S. but released as 2-disc here. Same with Day After Tomorrow I think. So there's still hope.

You're talking about a different film studio, which is Fox. Cars is from Disney, and when they say 1-disc lang in the US, chances are ganun din dito, with fewer features pa usually (example: the local Little Mermaid Special Edition release, which is 1-disc, compared to 2-discs in the US). While I do not doubt na magkaka 2-disc version in the future, I don't see it being released here before the US.

The opposite happened last year with Tarzan Special Edition. The R1 release was originally announced as a 2-disc set, but what was actually released in the US was only a 1-disc set. On the other hand, the R3 release was a 2-disc set.

But isn't the 2-disc version of Tarzan the second release already. The first "regular" issue was 1-disc. This is the first issue of Cars....ergo will also be released as a single disc?

That tin case is really interesting and tempting especially at the advertised price point - less than 1,600Php
The thing is the release date seems to have been moved back from the initial post of boybi on Oct 25 to Nov03.

And the contents of the 2nd disc isn't even posted yet up to now.
And my freaking wishlist at CD-Wow doesn't reflect new entries, haaaay.

Nope, I think these are diecast as opposed to McDo which was made of cheap plastic.

DVD-9 din ba ito?

I'm wondering why it is priced at P550 compared to X3 and Ice Age 2 (P750). Are the latter 2-discs?
Hopefully, this is the new pricing scheme of Viva and has nothing to do with inferior DVD quality.

In connection, has anyone purchased the P550 version of High School Musical? I think reviewing that R3 version and comparing it to the R1 (P900) is a good way to predict whether this P550 pricing is a good buy or a fluke (like Magna's P299 and P475 for new releases)

Viva kasi locally manufactures (or repackages) Disney titles kaya siguro cheaper. Yung X3 and Ice Age 2, though from Viva also, are imported R3 DVD's.

As far I know, Viva does not locally manufacture their Disney releases. Although the discs are imported, these are packaged locally. With regard to the P550 price, I've read somewhere that Viva has a new pricing scheme starting with The Little Mermaid which was priced at P550. Even the R3 High School Musical is priced at P550. Based on specs of the R1 release, the R3 Cars is most likely just a one-disc set, hence the P550 price. As for the P750 price, I'm assuming that this is their new price for 2-disc sets.
