Need your inputs on Denon 2805, HK 3840.
« on: Oct 30, 2006 at 03:30 PM »
I'm planning to get a Denon 2805.
Medyo luma na yatang model to power my 602s3
Currently im using HK 235.
Is this a good decision?
Would there be an improvement if I use this .

Im also contemplating on getting HK's 3840 stereo receiver.
Is the amp section of 3840 better than 235 or their difference is just power.
Which way should I go if Im more into audio listening rather than HT.

Sensya na mga sir medyo naguguluhan ako.
TIA.

if you want significant improvement, go the power amp route....Rotels are good buys coz of their value...or shop around for pre-owned gears.  that way you'll realize the jump you're yearnin for...for you and your 602s.... :)

These are what I've seen in the B&S section.

NAD 216THX Power Amplifier - 2 channel, 125 watts/channel

B & K 4420 Power Amplifier - 2 channel, 200 watts/channel

Good enough ba ito or a Rotel is what I really should look for?

hello...

denon avr2805 eh hk avr435 level nya if model ranking our basis. it may have a improvement but i fear baka not on the dynamic sound impact that youre used to hear as to what hk amp characteristc.

since where here to help you... ill suggest you go on buying "power amp"

why?

you could go on bi-amping: hk235 driving the high freq. driver and power amp driving the low freq. driver.
grabe dynamic sound improvements & power that you'll feel.
i believe this is the best you could do!

since wala pa hk power amp right now (on process of creating new one)
one i could recommend eh rotel power amp kasi thats what i personally hear na
maganda naging combination with hk in bi-amp mode.

-the higher power you could strecth within your budget the better ok!

                                            i hope i help you here!  ;)

                                            thanks!

Thanks sir I'll be scouting for a used Rotel power amps from now on.

The 2 power amps I mentioned above can't be home auditioned.
I prefer na ma-audition sya using my gears and room acoustics.
That way I could really decide if did find what i'm really looking for.

In my experience changes in sound characteristics are easily noticable in the first 5- 10 minutes.
After that you'll be enveloped with the new gears after hearing it for an hour and it would be difficult to notice the big difference unless its really big and you're really familiar with the materials being played.

There's also such a thing as  being accustomed to the sound after a while.

IMP, the NAD and B&K brands of power amps are just as good as Rotels.

Since HK 235 is high current would the NAD 125 watts be sufficient?
If I choose B&K would my electril bill surge that much since 200 watts sya?

Yes.

You'd probably just use 5-10W so I would say hindi masyado.

Between the two is B&K the better choice since it packs more power than the NAD?

All else equal, I'm for the more powerful amp.

Why are you considering the high current of the HK? Do you plan to bi-amp it?

Same here. But unlike (class AB) Rotels and NADs, B&K's are of a higher class (both amp class & price level). Accdng to my buyer's guide, its class A/AB, so power consumption is higher but less distortion. Dunno if they would sound better though, havent auditioned them.
