The Grey (2012)

3.5 out of 5

The Grey is in between "Essential Killing" and "The Hunter" which is silent but intense. Carnahan's intention of making it more dramatic has the killer points of thrills which will grip you out at times. Long plot lines and the slow paced scenes marks its boredom, though it is a very surprise thriller flick that will be in everyone's lists this year. Recommended definitely.

War Horse (2011)

4 out of 5

First of all, War Horse is a beautifully shot film. A superb cinematography says it. Though I felt that War Horse is more likely Forest Gump with a horse as a protagonist. It's long that it almost focused more on short role characters rather than the protagonist itself. But the climax is strong, it's sad but powerful. As expected with Spielberg films, you gonna bawled on this one combine it with a John Williams dramatic score. A must see epic.

No Country for Old Men (2007)

4.5 out of 5

It's quiet, smart, gripping, and a very detailed western thriller that come out in such a long time. Though its profoundly long with a lot of story telling. Coen brothers made a western thriller that is very memorable and satisfying. Its a must have in any home video collection.

The 9th Company (9 rota) (2010)

4.5 out of 5

This is maybe the best Russian made war drama in years. It is more like Full Metal Jacket in Russia with these young Russian soldiers and their struggles, through its beginnings until the battlefield in Afghanistan. Though it's more long and deep, the execution and the pacing is well written. Superb cinematography and an amazing cast gives this film a lot of credit. A must watch at least for "war movie" aficionados.
