Burned DVD's not as clear as the original
« on: Nov 19, 2006 at 07:24 AM »
Mayroon
pa ba dapat ina-adjust para luminaw pag nagbuburn. thanks

first what did you download (divx or a whole DVDR (vob files)) and did you reencode it to DVD (mpeg2)?

burning and encoding are two different things.

hi, tnx for the reply. I downloaded it and the files are in WINDOWS MEDIA FORMAT (*.wmv). Do I need
to convert them to mpeg2 before burning them. What software do you use to reencode it to DVD?
Thanks again.

I'm not familiar with WMV to DVD conversions as I found WMVs to be of poor quality compared to divx, but that's just me.

you can check out videohelp.com it has anything and everything you need to know about DVDs, conversion, etc.

here is a place to start. A lot of guides to convert WMV to DVD
http://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?formatconversionselect=WMV%20to%20DVD

a guide using ConvertXToDVD
http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/158/59/

good luck!

just to add to what thesaint mentioned ...

WMV, DivX is already compressed. When you burn it to a DVD, software transcodes it to MPEG2 (yung format ng DVD) in effect recompressing an already compressed video. Compression "degrades" the video resulting in what you see.

Also, some DVDs (in VOB, etc., format) are shrunk using programs like DVD Shrink. Sometimes, the uploader will mention it in the page where you can download the DVDs.
