Yup, another set of discs.  But HDDVD for me not Blu ray.  See hear

Moreover, blu ray has been receiving early negative feedback compared to HD DVD for inconsistent pic quality. early region locking and higher prices relative to HDDVD.

Get at least the Yamaha 659. Its got good reviews (in audioholics) but do take note of the speakers used in audioholics, they were satellite systems & NOT floorstanders. Dont force a runner trained for 100m dash to run a 2km race.  ;)

If you are purely into HT, bookshelf speakers plus good sub will be more than enough, most specially if you are on a budget.

thanks matzter, i decided to go for yamaha rx-v659 / diamond 9.1 / cs / dfs setup, the ht room is kinda small-medium size so i think bookshelf speakers are just enough.  now .. for a good sub, ny1 knows how much price ng velodyne subs ? maybe velo 10 would do ? or might go with 12.

thanks

My experience with the CHT-10 (no r) & CHT-12r:

If you are into music & HT, go for the CHT-10, smooth fast bass

If you are into HT only, go for the CHT-12r, awesome crawling & seat jolting bass, but slow for music.

I am using a CHT-12r in a 12sqm (acoustically treated) room. Its ok & its not too boomy w/ just the right amount of sofa jolting power.
