I manage to try out the HD video footage from my videocam & transfer it to AVCHD format then burn into a regular DVD. PS3 play it nicely & display its HD glory! Now I can plan for my next "Home Video" making... ;D

Congrats Paul on your new "hobby"... ;D

I've tried several ways to watch/transfer HD movies from my PC to my PS3.
xxx

(2)  COPY FILE FROM PC TO PS3 VIA WIFI
If you don't want to split the file into 2, and just can't stand the one second delay from option 1, the other option is to copy the whole movie file from your PC to the PS3 via WIFI.  Use this program:

http://www.rejetto.com/hfs/?f=dl

You can share your PC movie file via the internet.  Just go to the PS3 internet browser and input the IP/web address that shows when you run the HFS program.  Copy the file to the PS3 HDD.  It will take about 1.5 - 2 hours to transfer a 4GB file to the PS3.  I just normally leave this program on overnight, as the transfer takes too long for my taste.

I use TVersity.  PS3 detects the program as a media streamer and I have the option to copy the file or watch it via streaming.

Meron na daw dito yung Slim PS3 based on this article... It was being sold for P20K  :o :o :o

Probably-fake video of the PS3 slim surfaces

We're pretty much assuming this video of a purportedly "stolen" PS3 slim at a street market in the Philippines is fake, but given the mounting pile of evidence and Sony's other recent leaks, we feel compelled to share it with you. Nothing particularly amazing here -- it's a blurry video of a black plastic box with that new rounded-off logo style from the PSPgo on it -- but if it's real it's certainly interesting. So, what say you -- KIRF, or the real deal?

Update: So this video was originally posted in the PS3 News forums, along with the nicer high-res pic above, which pretty much matches the box art we've seen. Anyone changing their minds?

:o :o :o ganun nga talaga pag bago. at 300$, once the hype dies down it should sell in the vicinity of 16k (i hope).

I'm still wondering how did a Slim PS3 ended up in a local Tiangge 2 months before it was released... :-X Usually you'd see it in a HK shop but never in this country. :D Any ideas?

Slim PS3 in a tiangge (VMall?).

Hayden Kho should have consulted with you first before he made those infamous but sought-after videos.  ;D

I meant wholesome movies....NOT those kind of movies. Still can't beat Hayden when it comes to those "home-made" movies... LOL :P

Phew...the slim PS3 is indeed sooooo sexy like Katrina Halili! ;D

Have any of you experienced the BD lens failure?

http://pinoyps.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=13712&sid=1caee39d09b3826bd4966eca07e9a8dc

A good number of them have spent 4-6k for lens replacement.  I hope Sony can address this with the new PS3 Slim. :)

sobrang taga naman price nyan. single lens mechanism only cost $63 a piece and the dual lens mechanism only cost $46 a piece. kaya yung mga nag nenegosyo sa ganyan pamamaraan kahit sobrang laki na ng patong eh hindi parin umunlad unlad. >:(

I think they charge that much bec kasama na installation/labor. Lots of people imo are not tech savvy, its no use for me to buy the lens and can't (or taking a chance) to install it myself. Unless you order the lens and talk to a technician to do a home service for 500 to 1000 pesos ;D

Just prying open this 20 thou unit is scary for me (duwag ako eh hehe), messing with the internals pa :D ;D

How is the quality of SD DVD playback on a ps3? maganda naman upscaling or still better compared to a mid-priced DVD player with upscaling like Pioneer 610?

Interested din ako to know kasi I'm using my PS3 to watch DVDs. Kung pareho lang ng quality with upscaling DVD players, di na ako bibili. Tipid mode. hehe.

let's say 1 movie a day (2 hours average), is not bad for the console IMO.  unless you buy more titles per day.   ::)

I've been using my PS3 for watching Blu, movies, play games, watch photos, upload all the latest cool trailers & much more for 2 years na....in a way, my PS3 is being abused by me but until now it's still going strong with no sign of old age or wear & tear. ;)

My previous PS2 until today still functioning...I used it extensively for playing games & watching DVDs in the old days. No problem or whatsoever. Probably those units that got into problem were isolated or consisted from a certain production batch. As far as I know. most owners are happy with their units.

+1 sir paul, and besides the newer ps3's have dual lenses. which should make it even more robust.

I've always considered that to be a myth.  I think the console is designed and built to really do both.  I don't think playing blu ray movies was just an afterthought in the design process.
