hi, newbie question lang po, can my asian ps3 play bd's from the uk? thanks

There are certain UK titles that are multi-region, but there are those that are region-locked and won't play on your asian PS3. Check the link for title matches.

1. the finish of the slim is now matte black and not the piano finish of the fat,
2. the buttons are now the pressable type for the slim unlike the fat that has touch sensitive buttons (defnitely a down grade)
3. 120 gb hdd for the slim while for the fat there was an 80 and 160 gb model.
4. i think (not sure) less usb slots
5. for avphiles, the slim can now bitstream hd audio while the fat cant.
6. the slim is said to use less power than the fat (although i doubt it can significantly save our electricity bill)
7. the slim cant let you install a second os (like linux), the fat allows you to do so.

i dont if there are more. tamad na mag research, this are what i can remember from the press release. 

but overall, a worthy buy, i think the price of the slim will fall to around 14-15k by november here in the philippines.

I hope that you are right sir iinas because I've been itching to buy one since last week.   Buti na lang ubos na yung stock sa Datablitz Makati last Sunday. Will wait na lang muna siguro sa mga reviews and hope na bumaba nga ngayong November.

i doubt that there will be a price drop since the demand is high. just like the xbox jasper console, one year na out ayaw pa din bumaba yung price.

posted it on another thread: dual lens ba ps3 slim? if anyone knows? this is a very important criteria alongside the new touch-sensitive-less design.

'tis the only reason am keen on moving the PS3 fat up the kids' room and getting a new one.  hmmm.....

My bad, the sound setting wasn't set properly.   Didn't tick on the 5.1 and 7.1 audio formats after turning it on. Did it manually since the automatic mode didn't do it for me.   Everything is bitstreaming well and the DTS HD MA display is now working.  

Also a warning when using the new multi-output feature on the slim PS3.

- Even if [Audio Multi-Output] is set to [On] on a CECH-2000 series system, bitstream audio recorded in Dolby TrueHD, Dolby Digital Plus or DTS-HD format cannot be output on the system

Also noted the quietness of the new machine. The fat one's fan noise becomes noticeable when the machine heats up after 30 minutes. The slim has been running for 2 days   downloading Rock Band songs and is still quiet.

now if this can bitstream audio probably gagayahin ko si brader jake at mailipat na sa kids yung fat PS3  anybody interested in buying my seldom used BDP 1500

the reason bakit bumili ako ng dedicated player is because of its bitstream capability. Now that the new version PS3 has this feature, parang dito na tayo. Hopefully lang as reliable as the fat PS3 ito

Thanks, I was under the impression that there were a lot of complaints.

Of the eight one-star ratings, only one actually complained about the so-called overheating (which wasn't even one, he just complained that it ran hot). And he kept comparing it to the 360 (like how the 360's external brick adaptor is better than the PS3's internal power supply, which could mean he's just being fanboy-ish about it.

Also, I found it hilarious that the guy warned people that the PS3 only has a one year warranty compared to a three year warranty for the 360. With the more than 30 percent failure rate of Microsoft's console, frankly, three years is still a rip-off.
