actually mura na eh' sa 14.7K, may HDD na, Blu Ray player pa, kung su-sumahin mo mas Ok siya kaysa sa Popcorn Hour o' iyun' ibang mahal na HDD.

yup, hopefully, it can add mkv to the list of files it can play.. another good update is if ps3 can read NTFS HDs for HD movies not limited to only 4gb. ::)

Just bought a PS3 Slim sa Greenhills.  Approximate price is around 14.7k (cash) at MR Dynamic.  Dun lang naglalaro yung presyo.

AFAIK, you can't buy a phat PS3.  Puro slim na kasi ngayon.  Personally, it doesn't matter whether you get the US or Asian version, mas mahal pa nga ng konti yung US version.  Difference lang yata is 110v yung US, 220v yung Asian.  All games can be played, same region din yung US and Philippines sa BD, pero iba sa DVD (Region 1 ang US, R3 naman sa atin).

I do not know how true this is...

It's true, but who cares?  Offline gaming through piracy is way outdated.

^I do. XBMC (or it's ps3 counterpart, PSMC?) on PS3? May blu-ray/dvd player pa na kasama. Yes please!

I sure hope geohot gets to do it right so that a slim can be modded to be a true NMT, in addition to playing games and BD's.

With its raw processing power, coupled with a GPU, a PS3 will trump any NMT out in the market today.

US ps3 is also autovolt kahit 110v ang nakalagay..tested na with members of PinoyPS..

X ang enter command pag US..O naman pas Asian..so almost no difference..

yup ganun nga sa DVD..pero i don't watch DVD anymore..ang tagal na..once you go HD ayaw mo na bumalik sa dati..

I have a PS3 Slim and Sammy 40B530 LCD TV.

Everything works out fine when I connect the PS3 HDMI cable to the HDMI 3 of the LCD TV (side input), but the signal isn't detected by the TV when I use HDMI ports 1 and 2 (rear inputs).

Medyo masagwa kasi tingnan kung sa side nakakabit, which is why I want to use the rear input.  I also have a Sammy HTIB (HTZ-220),  which works fine with all 3 HDMI ports.  Yung PS3 lang talaga ang pasaway.  HDMI cables are OK, since it checks out fine with HDMI 3.  Sa HDMI 1 and 2 lang talaga ayaw ma-detect yung signal.  Mode not supported ang error message.

Anybody else have the same problems?

P.S.  Bought an optical cable (Manhattan brand) to connect the PS3 to my HTIB, and configured it to utilize surround sound.  Man, playing Tekken 3 and watching BD movies is da bomb!!!

The fat PS3 does not bitstream DTS HD Master. It decodes internally and converts it to Linear PCM 5.1. Only the slim PS3 can bitstream DTS HD Master.

How about Dolby TrueHD? Can the slim PS3 bitstream it? Thanks.

bitstreaming of both dolby and dts hd audio codecs can only be done through the slim. but dont worry, even if its output out of the phat ps3 is lpcm, you are essentially hearing the hd audio already, its just that in your case the ps3 phat decoded the codec not your receiver. and you wont seethe dts hd ma or tru hd on your receiver's display. just multi channel.

thanks for the response. which is a better setting for the AVR then? DIRECT or MULTI-CHANNEL? What's the difference between the two?

for audio, if you have floorstanders as your left and right channels. its good to use direct. but for movies. multichannel is the way to go.

with direct setting, only the front left and right will produce sound, even your sub wont produce bass. so if you have bookshelves as front and left, i wont recommend direct even for audio as you may find bass to be lacking.

My Onkyo and Denon AVRs are set to Direct. The AVR does the rest depending on the source automatically.

connect your ps3's hdmi out to your lcd's hdmi 1 input. the connect from your ps3's optical output to your dz590k's optical in. that should give you 5.1 sound for your bd movies and games.

then connect another hdmi cable from your dz590k's hdmi out to your lcd's hdmi 2 input. you still get 5.1 sound from your dvds.

The PS3 can only output from one source, you can't audio output from the HDMI and optical at the same time.

You can connect an optical cable from the PS3 to your HTIB.  Then configure the settings in the PS3 XMB (Audio Settings) to Optical Cable to get 5.1 surround sound.  However, some games (like Tekken 6) still require configuring sound options in the game itself, otherwise it will default to stereo sound.

this is what i am talking about. i think that's what i said too. except for the configuring the audio settings within the ps3's audio xmb, which sir galactus pointed out.

yup, but one can configure the ps3 to just send the video signal through hdmi and the audio through the optical which was what i meant for sir habits.

nakulang lang sa explanation which sir galactus completed.
