I hope once 300 gets released it would look as good if not better than the HD trailer i downloaded. I used to play the trailer through the ps3 multiple times a day :-[ ;D

Yes, the dark force is strong indeed... ::)

How's the overall 300 PQ looks like in HD John? Is it grainy ba? :)

Seeing quite a number of BD movies that I like esp with the 5-star rating of Pirates & soon to be released Spiderman...hmm...I'm indeed giving a second thought now to become a Neutral.  :-\

w/ the new firmware version 1.80 its possible to upscale dvds/ps1/ps2 games to 720p/1080i thru component and up to 1080p thru hdmi.

I read 720p and 1080i upscaling is through HDMI only.

Paul " I still see good in you..Let go..I am a jedi like my mentor (you) before me..." hehe...
I also want to get the Ps3. However have budget concerns and that will mean more Hidef discs, more spending..hehe..I might have to cool down or my wife will chop my you know what..hehe..I might wait first for the samsung dual to see what they offer.
By the way. Are the issues with bdj fixed with just an upgrade with the Ps3. Any feedbacks?

The ratings on my htib speakers are

50w for the center, surround, left and right speakers
75w for the passive subwoofers...

Can i use this with a receiver. I'm getting the lowest end yamaha that has an optical audio so i can at least have 5.1 audio for my ps3. Don't have budget yet for the seperate speakers yet so i plan to use the existing htib speakers i have. Can this work? I just bought my tv and ps3 recently and i don't think wifey will appreciate if i spend much on the sounds again. I'm not really an expert in sounds. So i don't think i will notice the difference. I just want to play 5.1 surround with my ps3 as cheap as possible. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Last question. What is the difference between and active and passive subwoofer? Plus, how is the difference in sound noticed?

P.S.

When i upscale the dvds through the ps3 my tv display says 1080p. Does this mean my tv is upscalling it to 1080p. Because even with games that are only 720p capable the display says 1080p???

yes and no, medyo weird ang upscaling restrictions ng ps3. it will upscale ps1/2 games and non-copyrighted content thru analog. the ps3 will upscale p*****d discs but not origs  ::) it also won't upscale 720p ps3 games into 1080p

Haha yeah I know what you mean...  ;D Good ques Ray, I'm wondering the same thing too. How's the BD-J?

This afternoon I just paid my kid's school fee (equivalent to at least four PS3)...well, there goes my budget out of the window & I can kiss goodbye to PS3 .. :'( Probably by year end with Christmas season...company bonus...ah that will be the right time.  ::)

Yup. This is true.
PS3 upscales upto 1080p PS1, PS2 and DVD Movies but not the 720p games into 1080p. ;)

imo the 1.8 update is the best update so far. i have a 720p display and i think the ps3 does a pretty good job downscaling 1080p into 720p. my pq has improved a lot! my display must be converting the 1080i signal into 1080i->540p->720p. the new RGB full option is also a very big improvement. the ps3 now passes blacker than black. i'm still experimenting w/ the super white option but so far i can't see a difference.

has anybody here had the same experience?

p.s. some(like me) have had a little trouble w/ the rgb full option. it reverts back to the limited(off) setting whenever you exit a movie. the menu still reads full but it's really in the limited setting. hopefully the next update will fix this minor glitch.

You should've asked your kid, school or PS3? Ano gusto mo? hahaha!* ;D

By year end there might be cheaper (better) standalone Blu-ray players out. But then you don't get the Media center functionality of the PS3. But do go format nuetral. Join the blu side!  ;) hehehe

orig dvd discs has copy restrictions that will only allow upscaling through hdmi, pirated dvd discs have this restriction removed obviously which is why it is possible to upscale through component.

malabo dude.

Kasi Smart Bro is fixed doon sa PC na ginamit nila while setting up the connetion sa house niyo.
Kung baga the base station memorized only the IP of the PC used while setting up the connection.
So yon lang ang i-allow niyang mag-connect.

Pag nagkabit ka ng ibang device, the base station could not recognize it because of diff IP.
Gamit ka na lang router. I got mine for 3500. Linksys WRT54G.

Hope this helps.

Meron Linksys na di wireless. nasa P1800 sa Octagon Park Square.

Baka masmura sa Gilmore.

Maganda kasi sa Linksys walang incompatibility issues sa PS3.

Just wanna know before I buy, kelangan din ba na Tech nung Smart Bro ang magseset-up nung router? Baka kasi may settings na dapat baguhin at sila lang pwede magbago. O parang plug and play na rin yun? Thanks!

pre, ako lang nagkabit ng router ko with assistance from there TSR over the phone.

Ganito ginawa ko:

1. Connect the Cable (from the Canopy) to the "IN" of the router.
2. Connect the PC to one of the "OUTS" ng router.
3. Turn ON Router and PC.
4. Log-in to Smart Bro. (No need for me to know Smart Bro's Log-in Page URL kasi kahit google puntahan ko, it always pointed me to the Smart Bro Log-in Page)
Noong nakapasok na ako sa Smart Bro page, I then re-started PC and router.

Upon re-start, I connected the PS3, and ayos na.

Bro Mario, I suggest contact mo din ung Smart TSR kasi sa naalala ko, pagkapasok ko sa Smart Bro, nag-restart lang ako then ok na.

Most of the time it is a wireless connection.
Ok naman so far. Those bad stories that you hear is related to the router being used.

Some of the router kasi "daw" have incompatibility issues with the PS3.
Mine is a Linksys WRT54G and so far wala naman problem.

Ok naman ung Smart Bro so far with what I am playing online -  Resistance and Motorstorm.
Minsan may lag especailly pag naka-on ung PC and surfing the net. nagaagawan na sila ng bandwidth.

Pag multiple users, di na recommendable ang Smart Bro.
And also, if you are into downloading stuff from the PSN, mabagal ang Smart Bro.
Average is 100mb/hour. Kaya pag 900mb ang i-download mo, wait 9 hours to finish that.

I just don't know kung magperform pa din ng maayos ang Smart bro ko pag dumating ung mga games
na mataas and bandwidth requirement.

Pero for now, ok pa naman. No complains.

Thanks for the info,

I'm considering the linksys WRT54GS, with speed booster na daw ito. You think this would work??? Kasi baka magkaroon ng issues with the additional speed booster application it has. I'm really ignorant about this stuff kaya i need help.
