I need help...

Why is it when i watch blu-ray dvd with my ps3. I get only pcm sounds? My yamaha rx-v359 only says that i'm geting pcm, not dts, not dolby digital? Plus, the source only shows left and right channels on the speakers, unlike when i play fight night3 i get dts sounds and full 5.1 surround? I'm connected via digital optical out. What's wrong? Is pcm digital or analog? When i put it in standard mode i only get pro logic on the receiver's display.

as far as i know, the audio format for blu-ray movies can only be decoded using HDMI cable, because other cables do not have the bandwith capable of supporting such format [uncompressed PCM 5.1, dts-hd, etc], so     optical for example converts the signal to 2.0.  ;)

or change Your audio set-up output to bitstream from Your PS3 since you're using optical cable.

On your PS3 go to BD/DVD settings, then BD audio output (optical) - bitstream.
then go to Sound Settings, then Audio output, choose optical - check all appropriate boxes

Thanks...

Yup i know. cuz I heard that the ps3 60gb has to connect via wi-fi pag smartbro and not thru cable. paano ang 20gb na walang wi-fi? anyone with experience in hooking up ur 20gb ps3 sa net? and what provider ang hindi nagkakaproblema.

i got the pldt experience plan 999 w the  1mbs daw...

Pero it's actually lesser i think. But it's fast na din. Some one was using smartbro with their ps3 wala naman sya problems pero 60gig un. Maganda lang dun sa smart bro is that you don't need it to be near the phone line. Pero mabagal sya eh.

You need a router to connect either via ethernet cable or thru wi-fi. I have a 60gig PS3 & a smartbro connection + linksys wrt54gs router (upgraded with the latest firmware) setup. Right now I'm downloading the PS3's 1.82 FW update thru it's wi-fi connection, currently at 46% at 30 mins. elapsed time.

Here are the links for the linksys wrt54gs firmware update:

Be careful when you update your router's firmware coz there's a possibility na "ma-brick" mo yung router mo.

PS3 to drop its' price soon?

I hope this is true...  And coupled with other deals that will surely come on Boxing Day (hopefully an extra $100 price cut like with the 360 last year), Christmas can't come here soon enough!
