Hello ya Ive been here nga, dami nga games and units. Paradise...May I ask how did you bring it in?..Man the Ps3 is really heavy. I was thinking of buying also in hong kong and bringing it in thru handcarry, but its really really heavy..Also risk of those checkers at customs hehe..So I ended up buying it here nalang..Ya price difference is 5000 pesos and up..Also in hongkong the great thing is its under warranty with sony hong kong. Did you check yours if what is your warranty, it should be with sony hong kong..Sony hong kong, broadway, fortress, is selling ata 3780hkd..One thing great with buying nga unit in hong kong is the warranty. Pero Sony hong kong will only accept units ata bought in hong kong. If its Japan unit or Usa unit, like the ones here, they will not accept it. Because daw the parts are not the same, parang in this nature..I learned this from Playstation phils website. Somebody there had this problem. Anyway congrats and enjoy your new toy..

I think its v1.8. I only got to test it and have no time to play or watch movies yet. But the bluetooth remote can be register already.

Its S$ 799 in Singapore.  Multiply that by 30 to get Php.  Not worth lugging the d**n thing back home if you ask me.  Just buy it here.

Q for PS3 experts, is there such thing as region locks for Blu-ray movies?  Basically I wanna know if an Asian PS3 will play Blu-ray movies bought in the US. Same Q for PS3 games.  Thanks.

I believe Asian and US PS3s have the same region coding for Bluray.

For the PS2 playability and compatibility, still, only US PS3s will be able to play/load US PS2 games.

Great and thanks!  But can you clarify if this is true for both movies and games? I plan to buy PS3 content in the US where it is cheaper.

Anyone who can help me regarding PS3 internet connection!!!
I have time to tinker with the PS3 today so i decided to update my firmware v1.8 to 2.01. I opted to used the wired connection instead of wireless. I plugged everything in and followed the instruction for the update. But problem was i cant seem to connect to the net while my mac is working, so i decided to use the custom setting and input manually. After several try i always get to succeed in obtaining the ip address but failed for an internet connection. A code of dns error 80710102 keep on appearing, so i decided to call my ISP which is smartbroadband since it is logical to be a provider issue. I was told that they are providing service only for computer use and not for ps3. I gave them a mouthful so the girl talked with another person who gave me a static address which i tried to no avail. I went to the D-Link site and search for my router primary & secondary server which i input on the ps3 but still i get the same error code. Anyone who can share some info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Ernie, an easier option to update your firmware is tru downloading it to your PC & save in your USB flash storage (memory stick). Then insert into your PS3 USB. Thanks to Munskie for the heads up  :D

Download update data using a PC

Need some advice here. I've copied all my favourite music/songs MP3 (about 30 songs) into my PS3 via USB flash stick. Initially everything was fine but after two days of listening to the same songs...the quality is now degrading e.g. the vocal or music is breaking up & sometimes with static noice... (I'm using a BADA line conditioner). :-[

Btw, all the downloaded game/movie demos when I play them in my receiver is shown 6.1 channels but in reality only 2-channels...is this normal or something wrong with my setup? I'm using HDMI connection. As for BD movies there's no problem.

Just want to inform those who have relatives, friends in Hong Kong that i got my PS3 80g in Sham Shui Po for HKD3250 @ coversion rate of 5.65/1 HKD

I will attest to this.  Just came from HK and the 80gig PS3s are indeed selling for under P19k.  I even saw a WHITE ceramic PS3 console - grabe guapo talaga!  ;D  Really wanted to buy another PS3 just to be used as a BD player but have my sights on acquiring an HDDVD first.  These 80 gigs don't have any free BDs though inside.  Some shops though just add that offer, one shop in TST was willing to give two games with the package.  ;)

Hi Jay26,  iIt's at Causeway Bay area - Times Square (the 7+ storey mall with amazing Xmas display in front).  Am not sure about the outlet name but it's one of the A/V shops  in the 6th or 7th level.  If I recall right, when I computed in Peso mga P18k+.
