I usually convert Apple HD trailer MOV to PS3 MP4 using Quicktime Pro.

How do we do that andre?  If this is easier I shall certainly give it a try. Tnx :)

wow, nice to hear that the PS3 really performs well as a BluRay player.  "as advertised" kung baga

one of the factors for me wanting a PS3 is its BluRay capability.  it is a cheap bluray player as well as a very good gaming console.  same reason when i bought my PS2 it was cheaper than most DVD players at that time.  until today i have never owned a stand-alone DVD player.  always played DVDs on my PS2.  my current PS2 is 5 years old and the only thing i have replaced is the controller.  then again, i don't play much (except pag may bagong labas na Final Fantasy) and i don't watch one movie after another

I cant remember exactly how i did it. But I think its "export" the mov file then select "MP4". That's it.

Anyway, there's a tutorial on the exact method, just google it. Quicktime Pro converts the file very accurately. No lost of the HD video or audio. And conversion is fast.

BTW, I just upgarded my Asian PS3 with 2.10 firmware, now I can play the holy grail of all movie file (divx).  ;D

OK andre, I will check it out. :)

BTW, anyone here using Windows Media Player 11? It offers great new ways to store and enjoy all your music, video, pictures, and recorded TV. Other members reported it can sync it to a portable device (including PS3). No more worry about your hard disc. I'm curious.

OT.

Anybody here have TVIX 4100 or 5100? It can play HD MKV, Divx, etc, via hdmi.

So far no major problem for me.

hi guys, question lang, i just bought my ps3 and the seller told me not to update to 2.1 kasi daw it will damage or masisira daw yung lens. Is this true? Sabi pa nga niya if the game requires an upgrade then i should return the game daw.

did you bought it brand new from him?   what version is your ps3.   all PS3's can be updated to the latest firmware as long as you update to your PS3 version's home site.

check this link for instruction on how to access your media library from your WMP11 to your PS3 via LAN or Wireless connection.  I tried it already and it worked perfectly  :) :) :)

when I bought new games that required updates for the PS3, i didn't hesitate to update it.  sayang lang yung binili kong games.  so far no problem naman when I updated my unit.  although, I think it was only 2.01 and not 2.1 that was uploaded in my unit.  But all of the new games where working properly.

hope this helps.

Also the orientation of my PS3 is vertical every since I used it.  No problems whatsoever.  Lesser space required and lesser dust accumulated.  ;)

i can't see how a firmware upgrade will damage your lens.  lalakasan yung laser to the point na matunaw sya?  ::)

no, believe me, it won't do anything to harm your hardware

I have mine horizontal... due to my ventilation, imho, I think the weight of the unit (given that a ps3 is heavy) would be better distributed horizontal than vertical. just my 2 cents.

There was a comparison between the horizontal and vertical positioning of the PS3 using thermal scanners. It was posted in pinoypsx (sorry I'm too lazy to look for it, but I'm sure it's under the PS3 Hardware Board).

The result showed that the PS3 is cooler when in the horizontal position.

the 5 free blurays is actually an offer by Sony to the entire North America

may form yan on the Sony site and you just need to mail in that form including a thing on the box of the bluray player you purchased (including PS3s).  yung something number, nakalimutan ko, probably the bar code or something.  as proof of purchase.  you have to cut it out, no photocopies allowed.  and the movies are divided into 5 categories where you can only choose one movie per category

as for the pinoypsx post, i'll try to find it and post it
feel free to join ;)
pardon na lang yung occassional console bashing.  and sometimes that i have to fight fire with fire

Thanks, Darkwing. I'll try to visit the site.

Paul, I was actually going to get a PS3 last December instead of a Wii. But I thought about my wife and son so I decided to get a Wii first. This year will be my PS3 year though, haha! Hope to get one soon! :)

yeah, the PS3 eats up a lot of power

the good point about it is, it does a lot more than any BD player.  surfing, playing games, downloading, etc.  its basically a playstation, bd player and basic pc rolled into one

indie,

you are very welcome to join PinoyPSX.com.  hopefully we can help you in getting your PS3
