Yes but I think only if you use HDMI. Parang my component cable was not able to upscale.

And one more thing. PS3 Upscales DVD through HDMI only.

It is not automatic you have to set the feature on in the bd/dvd settings yata. After that it will upscale automatically, Also, you can upscale on the fly, while watching movies you can change upscaling settings by pressing the triangle button or something yata. Hdmi, cables are not really that expensive, my component cable was even more expensive than my hdmi cables though.

Its an asian 60 gb, the thing is it conked out while I was playing nba 2k8 online. All of a sudden there was no sound while playing, at first I thought there was a problem with the hdmi, then I tried to play a blu ray movie and the ps3 would not read it.

so the lens just got busted? any findings on the cause?

Been there as i'm a member of that forum too. When I got it repaired the tech gave me the busted lens as a souvenir hehe

If I have an AVR with HDMI inputs and outputs but no Dolby True HD/ DTS-HD decoders, would the PS3 decode these formats for me to experience them?

you mean DTS-HD = DTS HD-MA? nope the PS3 can't decode this, only Dolby THD, dunno if they will ever release an update for it

hehe they already said na they will not be doing minor upgrades, each FW is gonna be huge na just like from 2.0 to 2.1 changes, so cumulative na yung updates instead of small ones, which makes sense lols

Ok thanks! Is there a noticeable difference in sound quality between DD and Dolby THD for me to upgrade to an HDMI receiver?

sana mag-mura yung mga BD players with analog output... so that we can enjoy DD THD on our old receivers hehehe.

its true... my lense died today..middle of a deathmatch in COD4..it frozed!..time to go to the store tommorow...for a replacement..

I still cant find it in Singapore as well. Im only waiting for this one to replace my 20gb model.

Only black and ceramic white is widely available.

guys who can compare the video resolution of ps3 & pc games?lets say sa pc games yung hd3850 na VC.
i play cod2 pa lang sa pc games & ok na yung resolution using x1250 pro agp.as well as nba live 2008.
kaya lang stereo lang ang audio.

kagandahan lang sa pc games you can play the jack sparrow dvd games,kasi sobrang mahal ng orig games ng ps3.
