Sony has just released the V2.35 Firmware for the PS3. Resolves some gaming issues but not the DTS-HD MA 7.1 bug with some BD titles...

If I understood it correctly, set dapat sa linear PCM ang PS3 para decoded na bago ibato sa receiver, so in effect tunog uncompressed PCM narin dapat yung Dolby TrueHD, diba? ;D

You don't need a HD receiver but a receiver that can handle LPCM will do as PS3 has internal decoding for True HD & DTS-HD MA :)

For the DTS-HD MA problem, it's mentioned a few pages ealier or u can check it here:

^bro pchin, so in this case how should we set the avr to handle the decoded signals from the ps3? so the avr will just display it as LPCM in the display?

You also forgot to add 7.1 channels, not 5.1... But if you'd rather not change your non-HDMI reciever and is still considering the PS3, there is the upcoming Panasonic BD-50. It also decodes internally DTS-HD MA, but has 7.1 analogue outputs instead of HDMI.

Really!? I'm still happy with my Yamaha RXV-1300, it has a 6.1 input.  I'm wondering if it will sound the same or at least close compare to using a receiver with HDMI 7.1 input???

Actually there's no "7.1 HDMI" term. In general, HDMI can support up to 7.1 channels depending on the audio encoded in the disc. :)

No worry....as long as you have a HDTV to take advantage of the great resolution you can still use your existing 5.1 audio setup to enjoy your movie experience. :) Upgrading is part & parcel of this HT hobby...SARS  ;D

Ano difference ng 2.35 firmware ng PS3 sa 2.30? Not really paying attention to the differences.
Kasi if I don't upgrade can't go online to play.
