mga gurus

I'm planning to build a home theater. 5.1 lang ako... living room set up around 10 to 15 sq meter area.

questions:
1. anung speakers has the same price range as wharfdales?
2. sa size ng room, puede bang hindi na ako mag subwoofer? assuming na floor stander ang napili ko.

receiver ko would be Onkyo (1st choice), yamaha, and kung meron man, NAD or Rotel.  equipment to be attach: NMT, BD player, and a gaming equipment (pc or console game unit, doesn't matter)

Answers:

1. A-Audio Speakers
2. For the size of your room - get bookshelves & add a 10" sub. Our marketplace has many subs at rock bottom prices.

Alloa tebenets,

The following links will help :

http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php?topic=99087.0

To clarify, A Audios are a line of excellently crafted speakers made by sir Anthony, a fellow member of the PDVD forums. I have a pair of bookshelves myself, and this in tandem w/ a 13wpc int amp is already enough to fill my 20 sqm room with great quality music. Highly recommended.  ;)

Help on finding the best 5.1 speaker setup for music and Movies
« Reply #1174 on: Aug 16, 2009 at 08:38 AM »
Hi to all,
I'm a noob here at your site, and I am looking for any suggestions on finding the best 5.1 speaker for our room. Budget ko is 4-5k  only. On my lists are Altec lansing  AS3251, Logitech X540, philips mms640 or the Philips SP120.
Gusto ko kasi yung malakas yung Bass as in yung bumabayo.
And if ever someone knows who is selling Brand new or second hand, okay din skin.

Suggestions are highly appreciated.

Thank you.

Based on your budget and list, i'd say the altec would be a good balance between movies and music.

Or this might help:

Since you like boomy, both Logitech and Altec can get quite boomy depending on the sub level.

I agree with Nelson's recommendation though. Ok yung Samsung, but it's gonna be a different story if you plan on hooking it up to external 5.1 sources.

Sir,

I am just curious, what speakers did you finally end up with and how much did it cost you? And, what are your listening impressions with your new set up? Thanks.

Consider the Aurum Cantus. You will get a FS from your budget.

You might want to audition Dali Concept Series ... I'm using Dali Concept 6 Floor Stander and Dali Concept Center ... bought the set for around 40k at Architectural Audio (Greenbelt in Makati) .... sounds great - i paired it with a Denon 1909 ... i also considered Monitor Audio and Polk Audio, ended up getting the Dali after audition.

Here's a pic of the setup -

Need help on suggestions on speakers for HT and audio use.  Budget for fronts and center is max of 45k (hopefully lower).  I'm more inclined to get floorstanders so that I don't need to buy stands.  Mas-sulit kasi ata ang FS.  But I'm open to bookshelves if they are of a better quality.

Did not include surrounds since I'll probably get surrounds not necessarily matching with the fronts.

Budget:

I'm assuming a center will cost around 10-15k.

If Floorstander: 20-30k.

If Bookshelf: 15-25k assuming the stand will cost around 5k.

Speakers already under consideration:

MA BR2/BR5

Polk TSi 200/300/400

Polk RTi A3

Mission M34i

B&W 685

Hope to get some other suggestions.

Di ata 44k lang ang monitor 7.  As per a quote I got, around 50k ang paradigm monitor 7 and cc 190.

get it thru DOM .... he'll flex some muscles :)

but i hope you could give polk TSI 300 and CS10 a try too ...... its pretty darn good for me.

seriously .... I wish I bought the Infinity Primus floor standing 3 way speakers ...... midrange is detailed as i remember when i auditioned it many many months ago ...... but it'll eat up a lot of my budget :( which was pretty limited.... but no regrets with what I have .... just break it in for 24 hours with soft music at low volumes

Thanks... am actually using the Polks for a secondary set-up.  Small setup nga lang kaya am using the 100s as fronts with the CS10 which I got from the marketplace.  Sounded pretty good when I auditioned it against the 9.1 and even the Dali Concept bookshelf.  Sobrang good deal nga sana yung TSi 300 sa marketplace but I don't want to put floorstanders in my bedroom.

kung bookshelf ... the next best sounding ones that I heard were the Paradigm Atom Monitors :) almost like the sound of my next recommendation below. Just a tad bright though

the best i tested before was B&W 685 :) if you're into 2.1 stereo setup only ...... I think this won't disappoint.

Haven't heard the 685's yet.  But for bookshelves, heard the Paradigm Titan Monitor and the Dynaudio Audience 42.  For me the Dynaudio sounded way better than the Paradigm.

Fortunately, I inherited somewhat vintage speakers which I will try before buying more expensive speakers.  Will have to ask Anthony to help me out with the center though.

In any case, I already have the TSi 100.  Budget and size kasi consideration sa secondary set-up kaya yun na kinuha ko.  Yun nga lang, ang laki pala ng CS10.

Was able to listen to the 2.5 I think.  Sounded very good.  Unfortunately wasn't really there for that purpose so I wasn't able to really audition the speakers with different kinds of music.

Good Day mga Guru,

I'm planning to get either an Onkyo 507 or the Denon 1610 to be paired with either a wharfedale 9.5 or Mission mv8. Which would be the best combo for a 15 sq. meter room? I'm planning to use my existing Bose Acoustimass as the center, rear and sub. If there are any more advice regarding this setup, I would really appreciate it. Thank you so much in advance.

JBL LX2002  --- > http://www.jbl.com/home/products/product_detail.aspx?prod=LX2002/230

I was able to try this BS for 2 days and I was amazed on how well it performed in my HT and 2CH. using this for HT brought out the crisp and clarity of every detail that needs to be heard. A forward sounding speaker that every HT enthusiast is looking for.

As for 2CH, lacks a bit in low but can be complemented with an 8" sub, however in soundstage and clarity, hands down that this one is a beast. Do try this JBL LX2002 if ever you find one, you won't be disappointed.

my subwoofer just gave up on me (mordaunt short 409 genie). kakalampas lang ng warranty period ng 2 months pa lang siguro. thinking of having it repaired / upgraded by pilyo168.

however im also putting into consideration that it may be better to get just a brand new sub instead of having it repaired / upgraded.

what are your inputs for a possible sub acquisition assuming that im going to get a brand new na lang.

budget max is P15k.

for HT use.

my present setup:
yamaha rxv450
yamaha ns7900 5 speaker set
dvd player
e-great NMT

thanks in advance.
