Good Morning Sir/s, hope you find the time to entertain this noob here :).

I would just like to know your inputs/advice as I am considering to purchase/use an Altec Lansing VS4121 or Altec Octane7 for a basic 2.1 speaker set-up to go with my pioneer dvd player-LG Plasma set-up.

I understand that originally these are PC/Laptop/MP speakers by nature but I'm currently on a budget and considering I only plan to put them in a  small-medium sized room, I figure I won't need anything too powerful naman to fill it up with sound while watching movies.

I also know of Altec's MX and Expressionist lines which could have been more suitable for my intended use but sadly stocks here are very hard to come by plus they cost twice as much than the VS and Octane7 series. Has anyone tried using their VS or Octane7s with their DVD Players? Will there be any negative effects on the dvd-tv set-up in the long run?  ???

Currently, I tried plugging my Creative 2.1 desktop speakers/Sub to my dvd player (via 3.5-RCA conversion cables) while my dvd's hdmi is plugged to the tv. Tried running tokyo drift's race scenes and no problems so far.

Would the experts advice against this kind of set-up? ??? What are the cons of this set-up po?
Hoping to get your inputs and suggestions mga Sir/s before I go out and purchase the VS or Octane7s. ;D

Thanks in advance. ;D

the receiver, same lang tayo, 608. For movies, it has sufficient power to drive your speakers. For HK infinity, Di ko pa sya narinig eh.. But of course, ultimately, you'll be the judge. If you like it, then it's ok...

Mga gurus, i need your wisdom. What front speaker can best complement onkyo 608? My choices are wharf 10.1; klipsch b2/b3; and polk tsi100? Eto lng kc price range pasok sa tight budget ko, unless meron pa iba choices na better. tnk u

Stretch your budget some more and get either Polk RTi A1 or TSi 200 (they are the same price), the TSi 200 is bigger than the RTi. You can also look at the Klipsch Reference bookshelf speakers at Spectra in Park Square. 20% off for last years models.

My Pioneer VSX-1020-K will arrive next month. What's the best entry level to mid range 5.1 speakers i can get that will match my AVR? As of now I'm leaning on wharfedale diamond 10 series. I don't need it to be too loud, i just want a fuller sound. I'll be using it for 60% movies 40% music. Thanks!

Why don't you consider the Polk Audio TSi300 floorstanding, CS10 center, TSi100 bookshelf and PSW110 sub. I am sure that you can get a great deal on these speakers at any of the  AV stores.

Going back to my post earlier. For movies, the key is the center speaker since it will reproduce the dialogues. Of course you'll have to get the same brand and series na front speakers para ok ang sq ng tatlong speakers na ito. In my short experience sa ht, i highly recommend testing your selected speaker brand using the same dvd or bluray as reference para makatulong sa decision nyo

Sir Sanjay, They say Pioneer AVRs are bright sounding. Polks are also bright sounding. Wharfedales, B&W are warm. Based on what i read on forums i need a warm sounding speakers to make it balanced. what's your take on this?

I finally got my 608. However,I did not get the opportunity to try it with my shortlist of speaker choices. Anung po ang mas panalo between polk TSi series and Klypsch synergy when it comes to center speaker?

For music i recommend the klipsch reference center or kung gipit sa budget mordaunt short avant series sa 5th ave trinoma or sa parksquare makati may nakasetup na din for u to audition

is jamo a good speaker set for both movies and music?
was in an appliance store last night. was able to audition the only speaker sets they have which are jamo 416 hcs3 and the pioneer todoroki set. i found the pioneer a little high pitched. the jamo was sakto lang.
is the jamo worth its 9,990 price tag? it fits my budget but i am a newbie on these type of things so i don't know if something is already bang for the buck or overpriced.

I'm also hunting for speakers that will suit my receiver. Appliance centers carry very limited number of speaker brands, so limited din ang pagpipilian mo. I suggest you try visiting the audio-video stores section of this site so that you'll have an idea. Stores that are posted there offer a wider selection of the best speakers available dito sa pinas, my mura and may mahal din, depende sa budget mo.

good luck!
