Mga gurus and masters,
Di ko alam kung saan thread ko to itatanong kaya I thought dito na lang  ;D

Ano ba ang consequences pagcombined ang 4ohm and 8ohm speaker rating sa isang AVR?

Thanks  ;)

Can somebody recommend a good, musical, subwoofer. Preferrably an 8-incher specifically for music only; with Left and Right RCA inputs.

Budget: only up to 7k :(

Jamo Sub 200. Just don't expect it to go very loud or very low. :)

Amoy LSI yata ah!  ;D The Onkyo 508 and 608 are not rated to drive 4 ohm speakers continuously though they do have a 4 ohm setting which "protects" the amp. The 708 can drive 4 ohms safely.

Yup I saw the settings sa 508 na pwede 4 ohm setting. So if I will drive a 4ohm and 8ohm speaker at the same time I should select the 4 ohm setting?

Hi mga sir,

gusto ko na rin mag join sa hifi world ;D kaya i keep on reading ng mga threads here in PDVD para matuto.
right now i'm on a hunt for my 1st AVR mukhang gusto ko na yung Onkyo sr508+wharf spkrs until i found
pio520+shs 100 spkr system.

pio520 looks ok ang feedback sa mga users here pero wala akong makuhang input regarding sa shs 100 speakers. "would you recommend these speakers?"

if ever i decide to go for pio520, what speaker would you recommend? btw i prefer compact speakers maliit kasi room ko  :D

TIA

I doubt that the Pioneer 520 with those never heard speakers is better than the Onkyo 508 with Wharfdale combination. Are you after cheaper price or better performance?

How compact? The Wharfedale Diamond 9 HCP set is pretty compact (just a bit bigger than sattelites).

The VSX-520 is a decent AVR, but it's not at the same class as the TX-SR508. The VSX-820 competes with the TX-SR508.

I agree with you sir with 508 + Wharfs kaya lang medyo mahal. (saving mode pa)
yung kasing pio520+Pio spkrs is way cheaper kaya na-consider ko and that's why i ask around
baka merong member here na may experience na shs 100 speakers

cheers

Is there a better floorstanding speaker than the wharfedale vr-300 in the same price range (Php7500)?

Save a bit more for the Polk M20, Diamond 10.3, or Diamond 9.4. They don't play as loud, but they do sound better than the VR-300.

However, please do consider better bookshelf speakers for that price range.

Gurus and audio masters  ;D

I've been looking at the Polk LSi9 and LSi center for quite sometime now but I'm worried that my AVR (Onkyo 805) would not have sufficient power to drive them. What other Bookshelf type speakers would you recommended that is in the same league as the LSi that will be equally good in both audio and movies and also easy to drive?

Thanks in advance for your inputs and suggestions :)

The LSi speakers aren't THAT hard to drive. But other good speakers in that price range would include the PSB Imagine series, B&W CM series and MA GS series. All sound a bit brighter than the LSi.

good morning PinoyDVD! just asking what you guys would prefer regarding these two bookshelves?

a) Polk Audio RTi A1

b) Monitor Audio BX2

I plan to hook a bookshelf to a T-amp for the meantime then get a suitable amp in the future. can you comment on what you would prefer and why. thanks!

I am a beginner in full-audio that is why I am posting this. I love music more than movies, and my plan is to just put them on top of my desk about 2 cm off the wall, and place the tweeters to around ear level. my desk is just about a meter wide and it sits on one corner of a 24 square meter room.

I would love to hear your recommendations :)

Go for the Polk Audio RTi A1. Check out some comments of people who bought these same speakers from amazon:

1) I also own the previous generation RTi6 bookshelf speakers by Polk and was able to do a direct comparison. The 6s have larger drivers so their slight mid-bass advantage is to be expected, but in all other ways the RTi A1 is an improvement. The sound projects further outside of the cabinets, or rather the cabinets disappear and throw a great, wide sound-field outward. Instruments sound like they should, male voices aren't nasal or chesty, and the highs are soothing rather than sibilant and tinny (as the previous RTis could get under pressure). I have never heard a speaker this nice at a price this low.

2) I researched bookshelf speakers for two months. I wanted a speaker that would fill the room with clean, rich sound for all types of music, especially jazz, classical, bluegrass, and rock. Everything sounds great on these speakers. I had Boston Acoustic floor speakers. I still love the the BAs, but I have not lost anything with the Polk and I have gained space. The speakers sit on top of a bookcase, about 6' off the ground, in a 14' x 14' room. I could not be happier.

3) i have had these in just over a week and with the hours i have played them i would say that i am entering the break in stage. right out of the box they sounded a little bright, now they sound a little more laid back and smoother. most reviewers on here pair their speakers with a receiver and a sub. i would suggest that you use neither. in stereo i would suggest you use more superior hardware to get more from these gems, such as a good amp,a preamp and a good cd player,or turntable. now for my review.i listened to the polks well into the late hours of the night each night. as my preamp and amp got warmer the polks fell deeper into the sound stage as the sound stage got wider. i turned the lights off and i was conviced they were full range speakers.from the sometimes thunderous bottom end to realistic midband and the smooth highs.as the hours went on i plunged deeper into my cd collection, and the sound stopped comming from the speakers and were placed in locations in the air between and the outer edges the speakers. when i kept on looking at each speaker it did not appear that sound was comming from them. this has happened to me before on a larger scale with my legacy signatures (130lbs each beasts , a little over five feet tall and almost 4grand more).will downing's pleasures of the night (cd) is my usual reference cd for male voices and his voice came so close to me in that center stage i know i could have slapped him if i had reached out my hand. maxwell's cd embroya is my bottom end test cd and wow the gut they had was tremendous. i continued to listen to more cds from jazz to some classic r&b and classical and they got better and better. i love'm. and by the way did i say they were a very good looking pair of speakers.

thank you very much sir Sanjay for your suggestion, it will factor in a lot! so one for the Polk :)

the impressions for the Polk RTi A1 and the MA BX2 are numerous and both get praised in a lot of forums, and I am having difficulty deciding based on these reviews alone. will get a pair by the end of the month to make the most out of my desktop DAC. these are the ones that fall favorably into my budget :)

Chief,

Try the Polk RTi A3's! If you can adjust your budget, it's worth the audition. It's just a little more adjustment to the budget, but really great in the long run.
I just got mine recently and I am definitely loving them.
