guys, I also plan to do a budget 2.0 tube setup for our dining room tv. I plan to get a Sakura AV200T tube amp + a bookshelf speaker. would a Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 be a good match for the Sakura? Diamond 9.0 sana balak ko, pero 15-75W lang ang power handling nito. the 200W Sakura might fry it! hehe!

There is a sakura thread, visit mo yon.  Its not 200wpc, iirc its 200w pmpo.  Maayos ang sakiura but id suggest having it modified by the tube masters.  If you plan to use wharf and a hybrid sakura be prepared for a very laid back to almost dark sound.

I haven't heard other Wharfedale speakers aside from my SW150 sub. an audition is in order! ;)

If I'm not satisfy with the outcome of my 2.1 system, I will consider your option sir. thanks

To start with, thanks PDVD and Sir Stagea, and your right I dont need more power for my front speaker for my 2.1 system and I proved it to myself. I purchased sub PSW125 which is intended to be used for my HK3490, but I was surprised the outcome and very happy when I connect this sub for test to my 8 years AMPEX AX575MS 2.1 system which I only have on my possession, with rated 10W per channel, wow! it can sing for low and med volume which I usually do while listening music.I love vocal musics. I already auditioned some branded bookshelf speakers, I still prepare my current set up.

AMPEX AX575MS
Output power: 18W + 10W*2 (RMS)
Impedance: 4 Ohms
Frequency Response
Subwoofer Amplifier: 20Hz-250Hz
Sattelite Amplifier: 100Hz-20Khz
Subwoofer speaker: 20Hz-300Hz
Sattelite speaker: 100Hz-20Khz

I need some help again to my fellow experienced PDVD members. I have 2(two) sets of this AMPEX 575MS, when I go back home this December, I plan to connect this speakers to my HK 3490 as my front speaker + PSW125. At rated 4 ohms each, I will connect this in series to have a total Impedance of 8 ohms.My question is! Is there a way to protect my speaker and receiver with this set up if accidentally the volume was increased higher. HK 3490 rated 120W per channel  and AMPEX speaker 20W(2X10 connect in series) per channel not match in terms of power. Will SQ be affected if speakers connected in series or parallel. Any suggestion will be appreciated. TIA

With that budget you might need to consider second hand floorstanders.  But that depends on your musical preference, wharfdale's 10.5 is a 3way floorstander thats below 20k bnew and has a nice warm sound.  The Tsi 300 of polk audio is also below 20k but with a brighter sound naman.  Considering second hand FS will give you more options than the two i mentioned.

You might even find this interesting: http://www.pinoydvd.com/index.php/topic,172005.0/topicseen.html

Happy hunting.

Your right sir, its best to go into ipon mode rather than dip into something that becomes your preference bec of fund shortage. Ganda po ng avr nyo, make the most out of it.

Its definitely an upgrade if you compare it to tv speakers.  For gaming i could say that it may be enough but if for movies baka maghanap ka ng mas may oomph.

at 20k budget bro go with book shelves na muna. RTI-A3 i think fits your budget. Pwede rin 2nd hand B&W 685. sa 20k na budget you wont have any good options na FS. sayang yung avr mo.

If the room is small stick with the BS.  the sub more often than not compensates for the lack in frequency response by the BS.

guys, I also plan to do a budget 2.0 tube setup for our dining room tv. I plan to get a Sakura AV200T tube amp + a bookshelf speaker. would a Wharfedale Diamond 9.1 be a good match for the Sakura? Diamond 9.0 sana balak ko, pero 15-75W lang ang power handling nito. the 200W Sakura might fry it! hehe!

i just had to reply on your sakura inquiry. i have this powering my old cerwin vega L7 and it sucks so doing it. just get a different amp. that 200w rating seems 2w to me.

plus getting the 9.1 might not be a good option too. i listened to a dared mp5 hybrid tube amp + 9.1 from what hifi and it's kinda weak, a solid state amp matches the wharfedales better.

There are lots of decent entry-level systems out there.

But in order for the people here to properly guide you, they have to know your budget first so that they could tailor your system based on the budget that you can afford. They may suggest a system, which may be a little over than what your budget can accommodate, but you may have a more modest budget in hand. You know in this hobby, more expensive almost always translates to better quality. But with people here, you can always get the most out of your budget
