The psb alpha and image line are very easy to power, the same with the polk tsi and rti line but they have 2 different characteristics. Psb is warm sounding while polk leans towards bright. In my own opinion, tube amps are a perfect match for speakers with ribbon tweeters, it may be more expensive though. Choices on top of my head are golden ear aon and dali ikons. I suggest you bring your amp when you audition so you would be able to find a match to your liking.

Hi Guys,

I'm new to home theater audio. I would like to seek the advise of experts here regarding bookshelf speakers.

Basically, I will go for 5.1 setup, but due to budget constraints, I will start first with front bookshelf pair then work on other items (reciever, sub, center, and finally back bookshelf pair) gradually.

Kindly comment on the bookshelf speakers below.

1. Polk Audio T15
2. Polk Audio TSi100

Can it provide decent voice clarity and bass for action scenes. Just enough to as a standalone while waiting for the other components but is worthwhile after the setup is complete.

Thanks for the reponses!

the q300 uses a very efficient coaxial design. the dispersion is wide and creates a bigger soundstage. haven't tried a tube amp on it though but i have listened to an older kef iq9 and a cayin integrated amp and that combination was awesome.

yes, i suggest it's better if you bring your amp to test it with the q300 to see if it will partner well. if you could stretch your budget a bit, you can try the aurum cantus v2m. this has to be the only speaker that doesn't sound well with a solidstate amp but was perfectly beautiful with tubes. also include on your list the monitor audio rx2 bookshelf, i also liked the combination of these speakers with tubes.

Hi Guys,

Any recommendation for a nice bookshelf speaker for my HK AVR 340?

I'm leaning towards Polk TSI 100 over Wharfedale Diamond 10.1,
Mainly stereo music listening and can be upgraded over the time,
my room's area is around 15 sq.mtr
I'm currently using a vintage Polk Audio SDA CRS II.

Thank you for your suggestions.

I'd go with the Polks. dark-sounding daw ang wharfs. (I prefer bright speakers)

Hi Guys,

I just stumbled upon these forums after doing research on a budget audio setup for my pc. Was originally going for swans hivi m50w 2.1 speakers but found out i can get wharfs 10.1 for cheaper price but requires an amp which i know costs a lot more. Im a newbie when it comes to audio.

Anyone can recommend a good pc setup for 10-15k? or is this too low for a budget setup

My speaker upgrade choice boils down to Xavian XN 250 and Sonus Faber Minuetto (pre-owned).
I found out that ribbon tweeters are a bit bright for my audio taste(but I love them on HT).

Now which one would you guys recommend? ;D

I love them both pero cyempre isa lang ang kayang makuha...

Worth it ba siya for 17k? for primarily PC use
for that price ang alternatives is swans hivi m200mkIII or wharf 10.1 + pio vsx521 amp (budget setup according dun sa kausap ko sa TLR)

for a pc audio setup i recommend you use a usb dac like musiland 01. there is a night and day difference in output against just using the regular 3.5mm jack from your pc. the sound will become thicker and more refined. the details will also be more noticeable. then you can scout our marketplace for an integrated amp and speaker that can fit your budget.

Would this be better than a sound card like the xonar essence?

i haven't tried the xonar essence yet but looking at it's price, a usb dac would still provide a better cost effective way of delivering good music coming from your pc.
