HT Room in progress
« on: Dec 26, 2006 at 10:02 PM »
comments are all welcome, suggestions on cheap and easy way of treating my front and back wall for accoustics. . .  space is just 7 x 7 FEET too small for most HT set up. :) on the left side are two doors, one for the CR and the other for entry to the room, plan on using curtains on that side as what i did on the right.

Gears:
Samsung CT21K40ML - Got a good deal, Bnew from Western, 8k lang, with free rack and desk fan
Pioneer DV373s
Yammy RXV 530 - 4 years na sakin and hasnt failed me since, due for upgrade . . .
Fronts: Diamond 9.1
Center: Diamond CS
Surounds: 8.1s
wires: 12 gauges, the clear ones, not sure pero US made
interconnects: most are DIYs using Belden and Quantums
Sub : Still looking for one, though sa sobra liit ng room . . . tsaka na.
DVD rack: generic lang from Alimall, cheap though it serves it purpose

Ayos na ayos ang set up mo, sir triplex.  Pareho tayo ng taste.

In fact, nag set-up ako for my brother sometime in September 2006.  Components are Samsung CRT, Yammy AVR, Wharfedale Diamond 9 bookshelves with Sabre stands, and Pioneer DVD.  It looks almost exactly like your set up... pati kurtina kamukha rin!

Congrats!

Sub : Still looking for one, though sa sobra liit ng room . . . tsaka na.

Try Wharfedale Diamond SW 150.  Great performance if used in a small room, very low price pa.

I agree, the SW150 will work for you room. But if you have extra cash, I'd suggest you get a more powerful sub. At least if you move your setup to a bigger room, no need to upgrade your sub.

apologies for late response to all your kind words. anyways, am out in the market for a good sub,  previosly had a US audio 512 sub, malakas siya for my small room. budget restricted so may opt for the 508 instead.

masarap lang kahit maliit yung HT room.  appreciating now my 9.1s, malaks din pala bato nito if placed properly and you find the sweet spot.

thanks again.

Yep, even small rooms are advantageous in HT. You dont need big amps or big subs, so you dont need to spend too much!  ;)

Just curious, do you work at AMDG software in Pasong Tamo ext.? Knew a few people there way back.

I agreee sir MAtster, i think I got my rear stands from you late last year. thanks. True. my HT didnt take much money to spend.  patience and proper placement does wonders even to a mere setup like mine.  btw, wasnt able to resist not getting a sub, just got a DQ12 for now, not that satisfied though it does the job.

AMDG - its not a company sir, its what I picked up from school long time ago . . .it means "For the greater glory of God"

yep, blue eagle sir.

btw guys, where do you run the speaker cables when you constructed your dedicated HTs?  Assuming I plan to have it done, do I need to run pvc pipes through/within the walls and up the ceiling . . . for my surrounds?  or do i just have the pipes run parallel along the floor base boards of the walls?  wanted to get rid of unsightly cables.  Want to use those wall mounted outlets using banana plugs.  thanks

I ran mine through the ceiling since it was made of MDF & we really opened up & modified the ceiling anyway. It was harder to do it on cement.

Yes, they were placed on plastic pipes.

One rule of thumb: DO NOT place your speaker wires together w/ electrical wires as they may cause signal interference (or something like it).

I had the opportunity to put everything in-wall, so all my surround speakers are in orange PVC pipes embedded in cement.  A practical alternative to hide wire runs (laid after construction) would be to use those ceiling cornice.  Gaganda pa bahay mo.  ;)

if you are building from scratch...yes...speaker cables in pvc pipes inside concrete walls.

yes, you can also run them along the base boards...hide them using moldings
