just received a text from magnavision saying the release has been pushed to February 20 due to customs delay.. But if it's released earlier, they will deliver it to the stores immediately..

This was the exact text message:

I saw the single disc version already at P575.. Yung 2-Disc meron na daw pero di pa daw pwede i-release.. They told me to come back tomorrow to claim my reservation..

At The Block in SM North.. Hindi pa naman daw sure kung pwede na tomorrow.. They just told me to come back kasi baka pwede na.. They were hesitant pa nga eh to tell me kaya lang makulit ako..

They should release those na may preorder after all, it's past their listed date... and it's not like redeeming preorders will spark a price war (like what happened before). They could however not sell to those without preorders if they see fit.

Oh well... Tawag muna ako sa Astro bukas bago dumaan...to be sure...

- the page shows details on the casino royale dvd, along with some menu shots, if you look closely, may dts dun sa audio menu nung r3 dvd menu screenshot... so.... meron din kayang dts pag na release dito sa atin?!

Oo nga sana i-release na. Tutal naman delayed naman talaga sila. It was supposed to be released last Feb 13 pa.

My brother wanted to watch this again so we got the single-disc release kanina.. When we got home, we played it.. Before you get to the menu, a couple of Sony ads play and an ad for Casino Filipino Hyatt in Manila then some trailers.. Weird..

BTW, the release of the 2-Disc is on the 20th pa talaga..

Maybe, they are now soliciting advertisements as a new revenue stream... or they got Casino Filipino Hyatt to sponsor the Poker tourney, so no cash out from Magnavision...

Whoa. Now I'm wondering where this was pressed - locally or abroad.

If the 2-Disc version suffered from a customs delay while the single disc version did not, then it's possible this version was pressed here?

Can you kindly check if it's a DVD9, boredfilmmaker?

Looks that way.. There's also a paper ad included inside also of Casino Filipino.. I was just surprised.. Not used to seeing ads in a DVD kasi..

Not bad, then. Either they coordinated with the foreign manufacturing plant or they used the local facility Star Cinema uses for their DVD9s. As long as the picture quality is okay, no issue.

No problems with the PQ, as far as I can tell.. I just wish the 2-Disc version doesn't have the same 1st disc..

so to those who got their copy no problems with sound? was at Music One ATC yesterday, and the saleslady was pulling out all of their copies of Casino Royale DVD (i think its the one disc version) - something about problems with the sound. Didnt stay around to ask though.

got the single disc at P575 despite pre-ordering the 2 disc. yes it has dts. pretty good, straightforward dvd. no special features.

i snatch a copy of the single disc last friday, PQ is nice though. loved the DTS audio, hated the 15 mins commercial and preview that you cannot really do something about it.

Wait a minute - you CAN'T skip through the trailers to get to the main menu, and they're 15 minutes long?

Foul!

That's actually looking more and more like it's locally-pressed, then. That's EXACTLY the same case with the more recent Star Cinema releases. Commercials and trailers you can do nothing about.

Sana hindi ganun yung double disc edition...

If the 2-disc version is like this, I will be wary of future Magnavision's releases.

For the one-disc version, how's the bar coding in the disc itself, parang imported disc ba, or any other hint that it might be locally pressed...

My concern is the longevity of locally pressed DVD9s...

Or maybe this is the 'budget' DVD9 that is in their list of freebie...

Pure speculation on my part...

Local DVD9. Ganyan ang Rizal DVD9, AFAIK. Local DVD9 have wider barcodes and indentifies itself as DVD9s. Imported one don't, you just know they are because it got two bar codes. That's based on my limited knowledge.

To be sure, I opened my new Open Season 'Imported DVD' from Magnavision. They are similar to other Magnavision 'Imported DVD' na two bar codes but no title on the disc, just numbers.

But since 'Open Season' Imported is new, I have high hopes that the two-disc Casino Royale will be Imported as well...

Just hoping the Magnavision will not somewhere along the way abandon 'Imported DVD9s' for 'local DVD9s.'

Is the release date confirmed tomorrow. I just talked to magna rep in Astro virramall she said not sure yet. Does she know whats going on. Is there coordination with Magna office. If its delayed pa I should have just got region 1. Do we have assurance it is really imported?

I'll agree with that assessment. I picked up a sealed copy earlier, and compared it to the more current Magna "budget" releases. The style of the back cover art is identical to the budget releases, as is the type of clear keep case used.

Hopefully the 2-Disc is a full import without the forced commercials. Seriously, I can bear with 1 or 2 minutes of those forced warnings on R1 titles, but anything beyond that is really testing a viewer's patience.

On the bright side: The raffle prizes for buyers of this set are very interesting!
