Jason's Budget Home Theater
« on: Apr 11, 2007 at 01:33 AM »
A Philmug'er sold me an entry level system consisting of the following:

 1. Onkyo TX-DS575 audio/video receiver (Dolby Digital 5.1 / DTS)

 2. Klipsch Quintet speaker system (4 satellites and 1 center channel)
 3. Pioneer DV-525 DVD/VCD player (the disc tray drawer sometimes tries to close without warning when loading a disc but otherwise in
excellent working condition ... comes with remote control and a Toslink optical cable to connect to the Onkyo)

 4. Pioneer CLD-D790 LaserDisc / CD Player (good working condition, comes with remote control)

 5. I bought a Mordaunt Short 10" Carnival subwoofer separately.

Its just now that I was able to have our carpenter make a nice home theater rack for my system and here are the results:

Work in progress equipment rack

I guess im going to save up for a an equalizer and 24" Dell LCD monitor for some good HD Lovin'!

Isa pa pala maganda Onkyo AVR mo at marami DSP modes na mapipilian.  8)  8) 'di na kailangan EQ. maliban lang di mo talaga gusto ang mga tunog nito. just my 2 cents. Matagal na akong di gumagamit ng EQ. mreon lang pioneer EX9000 dynamic expander for added punch for music.  :D  :D

Thanks for the tips, ut I think an equalizer is needed to compensate for my room acoustics. Correct me if im wrong. Hopefully I wouldnt encounter more problems with this.

Instead of spending more on extra gear not really necessary required in your set-up coz of it's built-in equalization, DSP plus DD & DTS in movies. Use your extra dough in room treatment like curtains, cd/DVD shelves on the wall if you dont want to put acoustic panels but if you do it in artistic way this will be part of home decors.  ;D  ;D

Thanks for your patience audiojunkie! Any more tips on what I should do? I have a 22" LG 226WTQ LCD monitor for PC that I want to use for my HT, but I cant find any connectors for the DVI inputs coming from my DVD player. Wat do you suggest?

I bought the entire system as one all second hand from a friend in PhilMUG.
