895? Is it a 2-discer?

Overall presentation is typical of recent UNIVERSAL imports

Case = Typical case used by local Region 3 titles (not the imported Scanavo or Amaray Case)
Cover = So so printing (similar to quality of Duplicity, State of play, etc.)
Disc = Imported disc but thickness doesn't seem to be at par with those of Magna (Sony Pictures / Warner) Viva Imports (MGM/FOX) etc.etc.

It would've been very expensive at 895 but at 50% off on the first week of release (ok na rin  ;D)

Now that's something new. 50% off on its first few weeks of release.  I wonder how much it will be 4-6 months down the road.

It's like the Alien Director's Cut release a month ago. It was part of the Buy 1 Take 1 promo at P450 or something.

I hope they cut more prices. It'll be better for pushing Blu-Ray discs as well as moving inventory for DVDs.

I heard from a grapevine that Magnavision will be letting go of the their Universal distributorship hence the label focused sale and low prices of all new titles to liquidate their inventory. I hope it's only a rumor. If not, I wonder who's taking over the Universal label  ???

Grabbed "Public Enemies" last Sunday at Astro Plus SM Makati at 447.50

I was looking forward to it but was disappointed with the image quality & the "disappearing" dialogues. I know that Michael Mann shot this in high def (so was Collateral) but man, a lot of night time & indoor scenes looked awful.

Surfed the net today & found out that the official US release would be on December 12.

Is this an official release or did Magna jumped the gun & gave us what looked like a  screener's or advance copy?

Saw this in theaters & the "degrading" image quality was also there. I believe this was intentional to give the film a documentary look.

The image quality looks fine on my end. What is meant by "disappearing dialogues"?

Magnavision has never done anything as stupid as that for a major studio release.

Agree...I think the movie was shot that way to give it a grittier look. Prefer it that way actually, IMO. Collateral had the same PQ...grainy night scenes and subdued colors.

Apologies for the typo error. As per the below listed link, Public Enemies' US release would be on December 8.

http://www.publicenemies.net/

Don't get me wrong, I loved the film. Maybe I was just expecting too much from a recent release. Hence the apprehension on my part regarding the legitimacy of Magna's release.

What I meant with "disappearing dialogues" is that I found a few lines muted & unintelligible at times.

So there, I rest my case...

No problem. A lot of movies need ADR but somehow the sound guys never seemed to go back to the studio to fix it. I'm not a native English speaker so maybe the Americans have a different take on it.
