I'm just curious, how is the warranty arrangement with our friendly members' HT stores anyways?

I would also love to know who's the seller and how will they deal with this.

Defective yan sir, have it replace. Sa hitachi ganun din karamiha ang sira, but the Hitachi company here denies that their units are defective (they charge the client for repairs). Bihira yan sa panasonic, have them test it para safe. Nasa warranty pa naman yata yan.

thanks for posting this apprent defect sir otepsy, I should try to watch out for this intently on my panny.  When fully gripped by the scenes on a film kasi di ko na napapansin kung may color defects.  What I notice sometimes is that the black bars on top and below the screen sometimes talagang black but at times parang washed out and leaning more on dark grey. I dont know baka sa program material lang.  Will have to test this thoroughly.

Anyway, what's the best way to test for the problem of "contrast flactuation"?  Sa end credits ba mas glaring ito?  Will try this tonight to see for myself.

I second the motion, bhongskie!  Baka we and other pana 42pv70 users here have same problem pero di lang natin napapansin kasi we are not conscious of it! ??? ???

Thanks otepsy for bringing this issue up, you woke up our senses to be observant with our pv70's!  Please give us tips on how to detect if our unit have possible "contrast fluctuation" problem.

Thanks!

turn off your lights kadalasan pag nagpalit ng scene from light to dark and mas madali pag black ang background tapos yung fade in fade out ng texts try mo sa movie "Blade" ni wesley snipes after the movie bago lumabas yung end credits na crawling yung text may mga texts muna na paisa isa ang labas try mo dun

Normal lang yata yung konting lightness and darkness sa fade-in, fade-out na end credits.

There has to be some failure in the software or hardware controlling the auto black adjust.

have tried to look out for the contrast/color fluctuation last night and fortunately I didn't notice any in my panny.  But I'm still uneasy coz I havent really tested thoroughly.

Have tried Blade as suggested by otepsy wala naman ako napansin na fluctuation.  I also used scenes from Behind Enemy Lines particularly the scene where a partial moon is shown in white moving from center top to lower right of the screen with everything black in the background (i think this is just at the start of chapter 15 if not mistaken maybe around the 43rd minute into the movie).  played this several times and havent noticed a change in black levels.  hopefully wala talaga sa unit ko.  did the test using pio 600 and a philips dvd.

Sira talaga yan unit na yan, its like watching pal movie on a NTSC monitor. Parehong pareho ng hitachi plasmas. Sa ibang 42pv70 walang ganun. its very visible when you see it lalo na sa darkscene.

Tnx din sa purchse sir, basta ako we demo the unit w/ wide screen. Like i said before its the 10th gen na. ;D

will try the blade protions tonight.

what i noticed in the top and bottom black bars, nag-iiba sya ng pagka-black but I think depends sa program material.  like in my case, the movie Troy has very black bars while in ghost rider its like a washed out black hindi talaga sya black na black.  that is with same settings.

OT:  sa mga pio 600 and pv70 combo users, anong gamit nyong HDMI color?  In my case, scenes are too dark if I use Full RGB.  Ganun ba talaga yun?
