HD ready ba yung 50PV70?

50PV70 is a HD Ready TV because of 1366 X 768 resolution that cannot display the full picture resolution possible from an HD 1080 source. In order for a TV to be considered Full HD, it should have minimum native resolution of 1920 X 1080. The 50PV70 does not have enough pixels to give true pixel-for-pixel representation of a full HD.

sa mga 50pv70 owners, ilang VA ang voltage regulator na gamit nyo sa plasma? i have 2 AVR's , a STAC 500 and a cheap Command 1000. which one will i use or do i have to buy a better one with a 1000 VA rating?

Here are comparisons of different resolutions using a Panasonic 42PV70 PLasma TV:

1080i

720P

1080i

720P

1080i

720P

I'm no expert, but since the source is still a standard DVD, there is really minimal difference between the when upscaled to 720P and 1080i. You really have to look closely to notice the difference. I bet this would be a different story once we use either a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD's and the player

im sorry for asking just now.

so if this is the case, would it be better to play dvds using 720p? i noticed that with 1080p, the image, while seemingly clear, had its sides cropped.

whats the real deal here?

thanks.

guys, i'm deciding which hdtv to buy between a plasma w/c is this model and another which is an LCD flat panel.. my primary reason to buy an hdtv is because of gaming (maybe a little DVD watching but still mostly gaming), i know plasmas have deeper blacks than lcd w/c is good for games but there's also an issue of image retention or burn-in, so what do you guys recommend? should i get this unit or just grab and LCD? by the way i think my average gaming time would be 4-8 hours depending on the game..

Since gaming is important to you, I recommend an LCD.

finally got my 50pv70 after a long 6-day shipping to my place.

screenshots:
upscaled to 1080p using pioneer dv600. dv600-->HDMI-->plasma tv

upscaled to 1080p using denon 2308 faroudja processor. dv600-->component-->denon 2308-->HDMI-->plasma tv

* tested 3.0m CDR-King HDMI (300 pesos) and 5.0m Panasonic v1.3 HDMI (4k pesos)= no difference
** HDMI output from denon's faroudja produced more natural and smooth color compared to direct HDMI out of dv600

Mas maganda pa rin talaga ang Faroudja (Denon's) chipset kesa sa Mediatek (Pio's)!  No wonder, mahigit 3x ang price ng Denon compared to Pio600.   ;D

Hello fellow 42PV70 owners...!

I am almost at 50% of by break in time, i am just wondering, I would really like to hear the performance
of our beloved Plasma after the so-called break in period...? Do you experience burn-in still after the break in? Do you still use 16:9 or the just setting of our TV or do you zoom its aspect ratio..?

Thanks for any input about this, hindi naman siguro OT at same model ito...

Regards,
ABC

Hello also to all 42pv70 users. Im thinking of getting this for my parents. However I read plasma are better in darker rooms. The tv I will be buying will be placed in the living room and the sun from the terrace shining in is pretty bright. I decided to make a tv stand na parang bookshelf type wherein the tv is enclosed inside, the bookshelf type tv stand will be white in color. Will this work? Or should I just get an lcd. They usually just watch cable tv. Based on what I read cable viewing is pretty good on this panasonic. Lastly, will watching dvd with those black bars on top and bottom cause burn-ins. Sorry for this noob question hehe.., just making sure before deciding on this or just go for lcd. Thanks a lot

after break in period ok na sya panooran kahit may static images or black bars pero hindi maiiwasan yung image retention mabilis lang naman wala less than a minute wala na IR then after calibration mas magiging maganda pa PQ nya WOW talaga... almost HD quality na even SDVD lang play mo...

sakin i tried wathing the entire movie with the balck bars sa ibabaw at ilalim, parang 5mins ata sya bago mawala, pero maybe its just my eye na nasanay sa may black bars after almost 2 hours.

pero definitely, mawawala din agad.
