Hi,
My friend abroad is looking for some pinoy indie movies such as Donsol, Manoro, The Bet Collector, Imagine Nation, etc. or any other award-winning movies.

can anyone help me where I can buy such movies?

those movies you've mentioned are not yet available. However, some indie films like big time, icu bed #7, miss pinoy are available in DVD format (sadly, no english subtitles)

viva platinum titles (saan darating ang umaga?, macho dancer, etc.) and regal platinum titles (manila by night, babae sa bintana) has english subtitles.

The Bet Collector (Kubrador) is already available, but it too, does not have English subtitles. And it has a cover which is so badly mis-formatted that it looks like a pirated DVD. Available at selected Astro and Odyssey outlets.

Panaghoy sa Suba is Visayan with English Subtitles.

Actually, be careful with the Regal Platinum titles. Although the back covers SAY there are subtitles, not all of them actually do. Case in point: Sister Stella L

You can quote text, marj, but that still does not change the fact that there are no subtitles on the locally-released DVD of SISTER STELLA L., unless it's been released in two versions. I bought this title from Astrovision when it was released in the Philippines in July of 2006. Here's the menu screen showing that there are no language and/or subtitle choice options:

Pressing "Subtitle" on the remote control does nothing, and as can be seen from the screen capture below with Vilma talking, subtitles aren't burned into the actual film, either:
