Just happy that I can finally watch the movies on the other side of the HD pond. Though the biggest complaint is the rather long wait for the machine to initialize and for the disc to play. Naka HDMI cable to my Yamaha RX-V2700. The video is set to "Up to 1080P/24hz" and naka audio out ang PCM. All hooked up to my 65" 1080P Panny Plasma  ;D ;D ;D Talagang HD nirvana...

That's great! HD nirvana indeed! Worth the wait eh.

Cheers!!!

Hopefully, BD will release a more affordable player soon as I'm desperate to see the other side of the HD pond too!  ;D

My A3 arrives yesterday and I have to 'worked from home' just to test and watch my first HD movie(Transformers)

WOW! iba talaga yun picture quality compared to SD DVD(I owned R3 version and compared using Samsung HD841 upscaling player)

Even my wife really noticed the difference of the PQ (sulet daw yun pag hand carry nya :))

Hello po sa lahat, bago lang po ako dito sa forum pero i've been a long time supporter ng HD DVD format. I am currently using HD-A35 and HD-A3 as my 3rd gen players, HD-XA2 and Xbox 360 HD DVD.

I love the A35 for it is the first player to support the HBA (High Bit Audio) up to 7.1, but now i must part ways with this player for the HDXA2 now supports the same HBA and this player is by far the best SD upconvertion for our normal SD movies. For it has the famous HQV chip or shall i say reon chip.

I have about 100+ movies so far, and loving every bit of it. Heto po ang aking movie collections:

HDXA2

HDA35

Xbox 360 HD DVD

Thank you po

Salamat po, sa US po ako naka base. Right now medyo malabo po kasi i can get majority po ng blu-ray movies na exclusive sa US sa exploitedcinema.com or amazon.uk without buying the blu-ray player.

Salamat din po , Kung naging complete specs lang po sana agad ang blue-ray most likely i will support them. But for now po, i will remain in the red zone.

Tho the newer 3rd gen A35 has the capability to output both TrueHD & DTS-HDMA bitstream but lacks the popular reon/HQV chip otherwise it would be a perfect player...what a shame!  :-[ Looks like the 2nd gen XA2 is still a great buy.

*a note: a buyer claimed his XA2 is made in China & overall performance isn't up to par. Probably this is just an isolated incident.

The HDXA2 is well built while like the HD-A35 is too light compared to the XA2. Also the HD-A35 does'nt have the digital coaxial audio connection.

Mine is also made in china dated January 2007 but works perferctly well specially with the newly release 2.7 firmware.

Sir nice huge collection and nice players. Congrats.. May I ask how is the upconversion of the A-35 compared to the XA-2, Is it really far off or puede na the A-35..Also this may be a noob question but the A-35 does have optical connection right, I still dont have a hdmi receiver. Thanks sir

thank you  :), since medyo malaki ang difference ng reon chip sa abt chip ng A-35 in terms of upscalling, my suggestion is kunin mo yung XA2 instead na A-35.
