Hi nethskie, the LE5500 and LE7500 both have local dimming. They should have the same dynamic contrast ratio. Based on the comparison below, the only additional feature found in the 7500 is the bluetooth connector.
http://www.plasma-lcd-crt.com/compares/lg_42le7500_vs_lg_42le5500I agree that our choice should be based on features we can use and enjoy. The LE5500 and LE7500 both have features for broadband entertainment access (like NetCast™ in the US) and WIFI Internet service without a need for a PC. I am not sure if these services are offered locally and I will not subscribe to them anyway. So I see no value for money in these additional bells and whistles which add 8-10K pesos to the selling price but will not be utilized.
Sir Vic, I am seriously considering LG 42LE5300 (same specs as LE5500 except for the broadband and WIFI connectors). However, the backlight bleeding issue is giving me second thoughts.
Would you please PM me the equivalent Samsung, Toshiba and Panasonic models and prices of LED full HD TV (40 - 42 in) with specs similar to LG 42LE5300 (PM me price of this model too). I would like to compare four models and your recommendation, if any, will of course be much welcome. Thanks again.
