Speaker Enclosure Chipped
« on: Sep 17, 2007 at 11:20 PM »
What do you call that clay-like substance that others use on speaker enclosure to fix the chip-off area ? Color is grayish/black and blends well with the enclosure when it dries.where to get it ? I only need small amount of it. :(

Thanks.

I think you can find that in big hardware stores like ACE, I believe it is called putty to fill in inperfections in the wood finish.  I saw some for wood and for metal applications am not sure of the brand though.

For really small chips I tried some wood glue that is like putty but more malleable for my guitar and it hardens like a rock, really solid and up till now still good, you can even sandpaper it to smoothen the application.  The consistency is like toothpaste.  I let it cure for two days though to make sure it dried completely

Hope this helps!  Cheers!

Mine are just small chips. Does the wood glue comes in different color ? I need something with the same shade as the black 602s3.

Thanks for the reply. :)

Hi Kenchix1,

Am not sure about the color availability as I don't remember seeing a variation to choose from.  The one I got was a light brown, a bit darker than a maple finish.

Maybe the wood glue would do well to fill the small chips due to it's light consistency.  I hope there are colors so you can find one that matches your requirements.  If not maybe painting those repaired areas to match the finish would do the trick.

Good luck!

yup there is a wood glue used for making furnitures. it's in powder form all you have to do is add water to for consistency.

just add black paint to it.  ;D

Anybody tried to mix coffee with the glue? Or ink. Some master wood makers do this.

Ha ha ha kawawa naman karpintero.

But that's good to know na may powder form and putting tint in it to suit your requirements is very convenient

Sir tama ba intindi ko, mix the paint with the wood glue ? Lacquer, textile, acrylic or water paint ? Ang alam ko kasi pag hinalo ang yung ibang paint sa ibang subtance hindi natutuyo especially don sa mga may oil yung mixture.

Salamat mga sir sa tips ! :)
