Look here: http://www.audio-heritage.jp/TRIO-KENWOOD/amp/ka-990sd.html

That amp used to be available in Jap surplus sources in Manila's Pier and in Davao. Here in Davao, that was sold by dealers at P5K Two other Kenwood amp models: KA-1100 and KA-2200 that arrived here in recent years were sold from P6K to P7K. However, if your friend's KA-990SD is in mint condition, you've heard it and liked it a lot, I'd say the price is okay.

best post a picture of the back panel

afaik, the only jumper that there is at the back panels of some int.amps/receivers is the pre-out/main-in jumper.

"Adaptor in and out" is the loop provided to connect an equalizer or other sound processing equipment, and usually has a selection switch at the front panel. It is different from "pre-out and main-in", which totally separates the preamp and power amp stage.

:D Hindi naman, just had an experience with several amps which had the same feature. If you connect a tube preamp, it will be like using 2 preamps in series (1 ss and 1 tube). You can experiment as this won't cause any damage naman, but be careful of the 2 volume settings. There may also be some impedance mismatch.
