Sir marl-1/sfccc, actually my unit is not 37PFL7422. Its 42PFL7422/79 and has already an existing software of ver 2.03.  Was there a higher version? Based on the previous thread 2.03 version is so far the latest.

Sir, a newer version of 2.03 (to control the backlight) was updated on my set. It corrected the flicker. Call ding for an update

you mean that there's a newer version of 2.03 or something like 2.03a or whatever? The current version of software in my unit is already 2.03 but the flicker still occur depending on the scene displayed.

sfccc, Ding called up after I texted him. He will instruct his group to install the backlight software to correct the flicker issue. Just don't know when will their technician be available. Anyway thanks for the advise...hope this will solve the problem...

Sir Letor, The upgrade will surely solve your units problem. Meron rin pa lang problema ganyan ang 42. anyway Philips found a solution already with the newer 2.03 version upgrade.

One more problem with my TV. A line from the bottom going up to the top. Do you experience this?

Somehow, I am thankful hindi Philips ang pinili ko, (no offense meant)..
its just that we hobbyist invest our hard earned money to enjoy such luxuries
and yet somehow, even branded names like Philips ended up giving us a lot of
headache, most often than not their support team as well as other companies SUCK big time,
esp. here in our country...

just an opinion

in my experience, Philips LCD TV are pants! hehehe

yung previous Philips LCD TV ko (42pfl7422/98) eh ang pangit ng output even when playing blu-ray movies... images were noisy, mpeg artifacts were glaringly obvious, etc. sa animated movies lang matino... kala ko tuloy di ganon kaganda movies on blu-ray... tapos yung noise reduction feature bastos, nag-i-introduce ng intermittent vertical lines running from the top to the bottom of the display... naka-ilang replacement ako, lagi sinasabi ng service (singapore) wala sila nakikita when they tested the replaced sets at their end... yun pala mga sinungaling, kasi after 2mos of scratching their heads (and blaming me from time to time, source ko daw-eh pareho kayang ps3 and macs nangyayari yun minsan naman power daw sa place namin hehe) eh naisipan din nila tanong yung r&d nila (sa taiwan daw)... alam agad nung taga-taiwan (meaning known problem yun), sabi "ask customer to turn-off the noise reduction feature" hehehe...

ayon pinalitan ko ng panny plasma and now im in visual nirvana... blu-ray movies are gorgeously rendered, so natural, so lifelike, so clean and pristine, yummy! heck, even dvds are rendered wonderfully... sa philips, puro pixelated/blocky mga dvds, not so with the panny plasma...

kaya mga kapatid, kalimutan nyo na yang philips na yan (sinusumpa ko na sila hehe), kung kelangan talaga mag-lcd, mag-sony or samsung na lang hehe...

Agree. Samsung and LG LCD's are safe bet and value for money.

But latest Philips models looks promising ... only if Philips will lower the price and improve after sales support.
