I'd recommend Samsung HD870 or 1080p7.

so many to choose from mate..... ;D

phillips, pioneer, panasonic, sony, jvc, samsung, lg...etc....these are mainstream players...

then there are: Denons, Marantz, Harman Kardon, Onkyo, Cambridge Audio etc...which we can say mid-level priced DVD players....

and then there are: Rotel, Arcam, Cygnus, Linn, Krell, Classe, Primare etc...which is considered to be a high end DVD players....(Well for some they consider Rotel and Arcam to be midpriced player, but for me, it is expensive already)

How much is your budget mate? hehehehe ;D

this would depend if you would want the best for your tv.  Ano tv mo?

Not all players plays good picture quality, even if it says otherwise sa kanilang marketing.

I agree.. ;D

Phillips is your one of the best choice given your budget.

They have a cheap but good quality player up to the expensive models

yes, it is better than the Philips.  Have it tested side by side with the Philips on a plasma screen for you to see yourself.
