best reception of analog signal
« on: Dec 11, 2007 at 11:55 AM »
which among the brands (and their technologies) provides the best reception of our analog cable tv signal?

Sony i believe has the Bravia Engine to convert analog to digital. they claim such however i havent seen them in action.

Philips also claims that their Active Control measures and analyzes all incoming analogue signals (irregardless of source) and optimizes the signal to deliver the best picture quality while using their Digital Noise Control. I haven't seen this in action also.

if you have other brands and their technologies that you know of please share them here. better of course if it's an actual experience. would appreciate photos as well.

The reason why this is important because id like to use my future lcd set for cable viewing as well. actually... 80% of the time. :)

thanks

I have a Panasonic 32LE7 and  impressed how it handles analog cable tv signals. I bought a cable amp with it but after hooking it to my cable antenna, I didn't see the need for it anymore.

I have a Sharp Aquos with a cable amp and comparing it with the Panny sans the amp...difference is night and day!!!

Hi Nerveblocker,

If it's not too much of a bother, can I request a picture of this......for educational purpose.   ;D.  Cable reception is also one of my criteria for selection, but unfortunately there's no A/V shop with an in-house cable connection for audition purposes.   ;)

well according to http://www.panasonic.com.ph/VIERATV.htm

The viera processor up-converts a variety of video signals such as those from analogue broadcasts and DVD movies to provie a level of image quality that approaches full-HD.

In short it rem-masters the broadcast. hmmm... i wonder how we may compare this with Sony's Bravia engine and Philips' Active Control?

pictures please. :)

Sharp Aquos w/ cable amp

Panasonic w/out cable amp

-both taken from channel 2.  The cable amp really improved the analog cable tv reception of the Aquos and I was happy with it already until I hooked up my new Panny with cable tv.  Notice that the Aquos still had a grainy picture as compared to the smoother rendition of the Panasonic. I also don't know if the tv size had a factor.  The Panny is only 32 inches as compared to the 37 incher Aquos. It's for you to judge.

What I have is the LE7 palang not the LX70.  Just wondering if the Panny plasma panels can also handle analog cable tv like their lcd counterparts.  Hope somebody with a plasma panel can post a screenshot.

Yes, I agree.  Please post your TV's cable reception picture. Kindly include TV brand/model and cable provider.  For educational purpose naman eh.   ;D

Di ba ang pagkakaiba lang naman ng LE7 sa LX70 eh yung Auto-dim function ng LX70?

yep. both panasonic plasmas and LCD TVs have the best reception of cable TV analog signals in the market now.

i formerly had a crt TV with a snowy cable TV reception. when i replaced this CRT with a Panasonic 42PV70 with the same cable TV connection, the snowy reception disappeared and the cable TV PQ greatly improved.

Samsung reception is not really bad. I get clear  cable TV reception from my 40R81, using a cable TV amplifier. LCD Tv's tend to require stronger TV signals to provide better pictures. Of course, comparing the sammy with the panny, mas maganda reception ng panny. In fact, samsung has better Cable tV reception than an ordinary, non -progressive CRT big screen ( 29-34 inch ) TV.

LE7 also has also the function of adjusting the brightness of the screen based on ambient light.

LE7 also has also the function of adjusting the brightness of the screen based on ambient light.

Sir,  is this the CATS?  Pang-Plasma yun, di ba?  Automatic ba o you need to manually set it?

C.A.T.S. (Contrast Automatic Tracking System)
Automatically senses the ambient light conditions and adjusts the brightness and gradation accordingly. Provides the best possible picture contrast for each operating environment. This feature also helps reduce power consumption and minimize phosphor aging.
