To all Rotel & Bada owner, please share some inputs if you encounter this humming problem and lets all learn and share what we can do. DON'T BE SHY GUYS. THE MORE INPUTS,THE EASIER IT WILL BE FOR US ALL.
We are one community and inputs like this will help those in need. Thanks! Gentlemen

Like brader Matz, I also have a Rotel RB-985 which I use for Ht & so far have no complaints on humming or anything. I also use a Rotel RB-981 for audio setup & dont hear anything. Well, I dont put my ears right next to the speaker anyway, so if there is i guess I wouldnt know hahahahaha :D ;D

Also, I try not to buy amplifiers during the Christmas seson - kasi minsan may kasamang libreng christmas hum eh hahahahahaha :D ;D

Finally, after so many months, was able to painstakingly reduce the hum of a dc200 specimen I got. I had to do it "old school" way for the schematics that were sent to me (yes, there were 3 different revisions) were useless and donot correspond to the actual unit that I have (or this may have been a latter revision board).

I found 3 things that contributed to the low hum I heard in it's stock form. Grounding, feedback loop, and transformer orientation.

Now I have to strain myself to hear a hum from my Wharfdale 9.5 speakers. However, I don't have an acoustically treated room so the amp may still exhibit some hum in such a case.

Maganda pa sa BADA eh hindi nagiinit! kahit 2 movies straight normal lang ang temp nya (ave volume lev -20).  :D :D

The reason why it does not even get warm is that the opts were biased so low, roughly ~3mA per device.

pardon my non-electronic-oriented mind sir jojo, but I'm curious to know the layman's explanation for your statement hehe....   if it's good or bad.

btw, it's good to know things are being worked on from another angle :) i wish this project well and I'm awaiting for the outcome.  kudos!

This amp is a Class AB power amp, the output devices are biased so as to eliminate crossover distortion when the two complimentary output stages alternately conduct. In simplest terms, tt has been said that the region where the outputs are biased is when it is in Class A operation and once this bias has been breached, the amp will shift to Class B, hence, Class AB.

It has also been common practice among manufacturer's to keep the bias a little bit high but not to eliminate crossover distortion but to force the amp to maintain Class A operation longer before shifting to Class B during loud passages in the music material. This however comes at a price, more heat is generated even at low listening levels, hence, lower efficiency.

It's not a question of good or bad, I would never post such statements for it's subjective and I leave that to the user.

The reason why I posted that is to give information with the post stating that even after 2 movies and at a certain volume level the amp doesn't even seem to warm up. With such a low bias current, you can watch movies all day long and my hard disk would be warmer than the amp.

this bada thread is a delight. malapit na nman ang pasko, pero ayoko ng may christmas hum, kahit libre pa. i hope resolve na ang mga dating issues with some users :)
---------

newbie here po and interested of getting a bada stereo integ amp later (for my starter stereo set-up).

guys, pls help me in simple comparative analysis..

BADA DC-222 (90w/ch - integrated audio power amp)
NAD C325BEE  (continuous 50w/ch, integ amp)
hk 3490, 120w/ch, stereo receiver).

(im eyeing to pair them with 1 of these bookshelves: wharf diamond 10.5 or MA B2 or b&w 685)

1) sound quality wise, any idea (theory or experience) how good is the performance of DC-222 (or other bada stereo integ amps) compared to particular two models above?

2) and to have a better idea, could you please give approximate SQ leap in percentage terms? (i.e. like product A is 10 or 50% SQ improvement over  product B, plus other thoughts if any)

3) malayo po ba talaga ang SQ difference ng mga integ amps compared to stereo receivers (like hk 3490)?

kung hindi naman po kc significant ang SQ difference, i'd rather go with stereo receivers (coz of features).

hi sir/s,

seems that my bada 2 channel amp has a minor problem. i observed  that

there's a "airy" sound coming on the left side. at first, i thought it was

from the speaker but when i put it to the right speaker connection,

the sound was gone. it came back when i returned it to the left speaker

connection. just to make sure, i put the right speaker to the left connection

and it too produced that "airy" sound.

hay pano kaya to?  ???  :-[  :'( ... any inputs will be appreciated.

any updates about the issues on the BADA amplifiers?

Q: would the issue be considered an isolated case for some units only or would this be considered as possibly a problem on the circuit design and may or would eventually be a possible issue for all models?

thanks for any clarification...

sirs, inquire ko lang, how would the  BADA Intergrated Hybrid go against a BADA 2ch power amp and a tube preamp?

lets say both are in the same price range?

example would be a BNEW BADA Hybrid integrated vs a 2nd hand BADA power amp with like a 2nd hand AMX tube preamp?

thanks...

Ako naman sir I chose the bada dc 222 because I wanted a simple setup, still a newbie at that time and wanted to try a tube amplifier, I love to tinker with things kasi, and tube rolling was on my mind, para iba iba naman ang flavor  :D (pero mahal din pala tubes uses 4 12au7's) but you still can find some bargains out there kahit used basta ok pa pwede na, I actually got interested while reading this thread too, so I went to SGT in makati brought my speakers which is an AE evo1 at that time, sabi ko kay butch (patient guy)  :) I need an amp i'd like to audition bada dc222 and others you might have, the other one was nad c352 also a good amp that was within my budget, tried it side by side at medyo nahirapan talaga ako at times the nad sounded better than the bada  :D it's got lush vocals, and warm sounding, but I know the bada can do better by changing the tubes to NOS, I have been also reading a lot online and most of them said to dump the stock tubes, with that on mind, I got the bada bahala na, bought some used raytheon blackplates and parang may na alis na vail and the sound opened up, at siguro na brake in na rin, also tried rca's and this matched well with my system, I use a musical fidelity Vdac as a source and epos m5 speakers, by the way not all bada amps have issues I think only on particular models not sure though, If you are near paranaque, you can bring over your speakers, on weekends lang ha, para ma try mo sa amp  :D. pero pasensya na sir maliit lang house namin. Hope this helps Goodluck  :)

Hi Zitro, I really don't know how it compares side by side now, but when I changed the tube, the amp just went to another level, I like the midrange most of all, vocals are lush and emotive, and the background is blacker, instruments are well defined, with power to spare, my volume level at the most is only around the 10'oclock position lang solve na ako  :D.  I mostly listen to jazz,  so it suits my taste, it really is subjective sir, system matching is really the key IMO, kaya audition before you buy, sir bring your speakers or vice versa when you'll be getting your amp so at least you have an idea on how it will sound, ang mahal kasi tapos baka hindi bagay di ba sayang naman  ;).
