Dun sa mga owners ng 32 Plasma LG, from the screen posted, the LG's display seems to be missing about an inch on the left and right side.
In the manual there is mention of "You can watch the screen in various picture formats; spectacle, original, 4:3, 16:9, 14:9 and zoom 1/2." Does this help not to loose the picture on the sides? How about cable viewing, can the picture be streched so that the black bars will not show on the sides, are there black bars when watching cable tv? I'm leaning towards purchasing this model so your comments would really help. Thanks.

Depends on your source material.  If you watch cable in any widescreen tv, then it will be stretched to occupy the whole screen but will give you a a distorted(pandak) picture.  Yes, the LG plasma can be manipulated to output the screen sizes you want/ or those that you mentioned.  There are actually 2 ways to do the pic manipulation.  Current dvd players have a 16:9 and 4:3 option, the LC plasma also has several options.

My mkv movies played in the popcorn gives me the actual size, like 1028 X 536(black bars on top and bottom), or 1028 X 720(occupies the whole screen) but I can make it occupy the whole screen irregardless of the resolution played.

Bili ka na.  Di ka magsisi sa LG na to.   ;D  Unless you want a bigger screen size.  Cheers bro.

Image retention is normal during the break-in period of 100-200 hours right? But it is almost always removed since these plasmas are newer technology already?

How many 2.35:1 movies can you watch in succession on plasmas?

the sinagpore LG website reply me this when i ask the different btw 32pc5rv and 32pc5ra:

"32PCRA is indeed the upgraded version of the 32PC5RV. The key difference is as follows"

New                   Old

32PC5RA                   32PC5RV

Chassis
H5                                 H4

AV Moce
O                                  X

Clear Voice
O                                  X

HDMI 1.3
O                                 X

RS232C   <---(don't know what is this!! :()
O                                 X

Dual XD engine
O                                 X

1080P Source input
O                                 X

when i compare the spec with the 32pg60(uk model), it seems not much different accept the 32pg60 have 1024 x 768 res, but 32pc5ra still the same 852 x 480.

hope to see some pic on xbox360/ps3 and bluray soon!!! ;)

RS232 yung pwede i-connect sa computer. Yun yung tinatawag na "Serial" port sa PCs.

Honestly I prefer the current model's resolution of 852x480 rather than the 32PG60's 1024x768 since DVDs would probably look so much better on the 852x480 panel.
