Akala ko rin basta generic region free.  This is my first generic player, so I'm as surprised as you are.

I scoured the web for a region hack, wala talaga.  I tried posting here, pero wala pang reply:

Problema lang, region locked pala    Baka may remote codes kayo, pa post naman.
