pchin, jiggs84, kt & JAQY888. My initial review on the cooling Fan is really cool! ;D 5 exhaust fan 1 Big on the Side and 2 medium + 2 small at the back with speed control it's really cool, one more thing they are also Auto Volt 100-230V.
The main switch at the back is relocated on th front very cool!
4 hours total for game & movie still really cool at 50% fan speed. This is a very good accessory for our PS3 no wonder out of stock sa Best Buy palagi.
Price: US$29.99 + tax = 32.46 ;D

The only disadvantage is: If you accidentaly switch off the main switch at the front before you standby the system (improper shutdown :P)

Oks. Thanks for the feedback, sir.
Maybe, another reason for the item being "out of stock" always is the "cool" price tag !!! :D :D :D
Congrats for being one of the 1st PS3 owners which uses this accessory.  ;D

Tnx odyopayl :) Is this unit available online?

How about the fan noise? Is it noisy or loud at 50% speed?
Will this effect using the controller to turn the system on/off?

That's my primary concern..the fan noise.  :-\

Heard quote a number of negative feedbacks pointing to the fan noise.  :-[

But would operating at 50% of the fan full speed help in lowering the noise?

The ps3 has its limits there's really no need for those extra cooling gadgets. I would recoommend placing ur ps3 on an aluminum plate so it can absorb the heat being released by the ps3. Just keep ur ps3 well ventilated.

guys, external cooling device like this is useless for the PS3, there is no overheating problem, just keep it well ventilated ok na ^_^

50% fan speed noise is negligible (for me) especially if you are watching thru your HT set-up. I usually use it 80% gaming ang just 20% movie since I have a dedicated BD player. I always play overtime usually min. 4 hours up to 8 hours usually mga pamangkin ko they want to play also. Just to keep me less worry about overheating. We can also test my system right? Lets check kung tatagal nga siya. I have my experience with heating-up, I neglect them and they only last less than their expected life (This is from my other system AMP)

Our computer, subukan mo tanggalin ang Fan, masisira sila kaagad. Solidstate like IC they heat-up so fast especially processor they are composed of millions transistor inside, they seems tolerable outside but not on the surface. Failure Analysis is part of my Job I need to do something to prevent it. :D

Putting alluminum underneath might not help since the heat transfer will be coming from plastic. Proper ventilation and keep your room around  25 deg.C might also help. It's cheap why not? less worries diba?

Sell it to member here who is interested, Philippines is a hot & humid country, most of us doesn't have airconditioned room for this player especially pag nasa sala lang.

this topc is interesting :) though i don't own a ps3 yet, based on a friend of mine who is an electronics engineer said that it would help alot talaga if you put an extra cooling for the system, mas tatagal yung buhay ng system.

i think thats more enough, if then, is there any other way, safely turning off the unit, hhmm.. ??? wala na kaya, hehehe.. but siguro for those may pambili pa.hehe.

ako since i got 3FAN inside my computer unit (TOWER) i removed one of them which is need supply na 12voltz so i bought an extra adapter, then cut off the end AC connector, then attach it to other end of my exhaust fan, and PRESTO! i have little helping cooling system, even the unit was turned off, the fan can still help disperse heat from my unit. o diba,!!! iDEA mind!!. hehe, since hirap din mag hanap ng mga ganyan..hehe..tipid in a way na ok din!

I have the Asian PS3, and I must say the PS3 stays cold, even after hours of use.
Maybe there's a difference between the Asian version and the US version, related to internal cooling?
