Usually, for cable viewing, plasma is better.  Many members here including me, will attest that Panasonic 42PV70 is very good in cable viewing.   :)

Panasonic LCD Tv's such as the LX 70, LX 77 models are also very good for cable TV viewing...

I am planning to purchase my first LCD TV (Cable/TV 80%, DVD 20%)

Just would like to clear some issues:

1. In cable/TV viewing, how will the screen look like? I am sure that will be black bars due to the 4:3 ratio. Is there a way to remedy this? Of course I would like to avoid stretching the images.

2. if the aspect ratio of my Concert DVD is 4:3, then there will be black bars on the side.

3. Does this mean that I have to get the widescreen version DVD's.

4. Any more issues/problems you wish to add?

Maybe the old CRT will do just fine.

Thanks.
