Topic: Sony PS3 Software Upgrade

Anybody upgraded your PS3 Software?
Based on this site, the latest Software is Version 2.30 (Just released last April 15,2008)

Already downloaded the upgrade on my USB  stick I'm hesitate to do the upgrade. By the way, mine is U.S. Version.
Any Idea? TIA

I did the same thing i downloaded via flash drive from pc then make a folder ( as intructed if downloading via flash drive ) so it can be read by the PS3 thus upgrading the software to 2.30. I was successful doin so but its still up to you whether to gamble or not.The only significant addition to the 2.30 software is the BD Live audio settings so it can decode the 7.1 channels. If u dont have an AVR system thats 7.1 channels and ur not into bluray viewing there's no need to upgrade the software coz it may coz malfunction to its os and permanently damage the PS3 once a power failure occurs while the download isnt complete.

Version 2.30 also has a significant update to the Playstation store.

yup better update yours. u cant go online via PSN or the PSN store if your firmware is not updated

I just bought a ps3 last May 1 and found out that the version is 2.1, i downloaded the software upgrade 2.3 thru USB and did the upgrade. So easy, works fine.

If you have a good HT setup that is capable of lossless audio...FW 2.3 is like haven sent which all PS3 fans have been waiting for ages...Blu-ray Disc playback now supports DTS-HD Master Audio and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio output!

If you aready have the software upgrade saved in a USB no need to fear failure in upgrading. Just don't unplug your PS3  and everything will be done in a few minutes.

True eh....also no game trailer/demo download. That sucks if it ever happen.

Just completed the FW 2.35. I was forced to do it as I can't go online w/out updating it.

As for the DTS MA 7.1 problem, unfortunately, the new FW hasn't solved it yet. I just tried some New Line and Lionsgate BDs. Still no DTS MA 7.1. Hope their next FW will address this concern.
