well, this might be academic, but here we go:
- get an amd x2 6000+
- pair it with a 780g based board (gigabyte is still our choice, due to our familiarity with it, has optical, dvi,  hdmi, vga built in)
- an antec/silverstone case (microfusion 350 is a good small case)
- both cases have remotes, though the antec one sucks
- both are fairly quiet
- get windows vista home premium (for media center)
- get a ~500 watt psu (if you chose silverstone, since the antec comes with a psu)
- get a blue ray drive

should cost you less than 40k, give or take :>

Hi Richie,

Pls. PM me the prices for the following:
1) WDTV
2) External HDD Packages
3) Egreat 32-B
4) Popcorn Hour A-110
5) WD Mybook Studio 1TB
6) Other MultiMedia Players

What would suggest for the best value for money media player?  I live in a condo and my plasma is inside the master bedroom while my pc is outside.  I download torrents for tv series & movies.  So what's your suggestion?

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Thanks.

Guys:

We have 2tb internal drives in the horizon.  Not sure what's the exact price going to be, but SRP was supposed to be 300 USD.  Will try to get prices and will be accepting reservations.  I have yet to verify if it works with the DNS-323 or the NMT's but I'm sure to be doing testing when they get here.  Just PM or SMS me to express your interest.

Oh, still in the horizon (probably same batch) will be the 2TB Mybook Studio II and the 1TB MyBook essentials.  Just PM/SMS me for reservations; I don't get to check this thread as much as I'd like to so I can't guarantee I can get back to you ASAP.

if price isn't a primary issue then NMT's are still a better way to go, you get:
- more functionality (bit torrent, file sharing)
- better compatibility (more files played, given that the firmware has been 'live' for more than a year)
- more expansion options (network-capable means you'd have greater flexibility in managing your content, which is where it's at)

i've personally moved on to usenet, and it's good that the egreat can also do newsnet downloading as well as bit torrent.

of course, if all you need is media file playback, then the wd player plays x264 files very well.

a thousand difference... if you get what i mean.  ;)

seriously (or additionally?), essential is a usb-only device... while the home ed has the usb2.0, firewire 400 and eSata ports. not sure if this is still the case, but essential has the blue indicator light... while home ed has the white one. goes well with the wdtv white status lights, too.

my book essential edition:

my book home edition:
Pana PT-AE900u/HK AVR645/Oppo DV981HD/WD TV HD/Wharfe 9.5/9.CS

pre are you aware of par2 / quickpar already?

if not YM mo ko or text.

You're missing something really big in terms of completion rate.
