in my case, i have 2x 3TB external connected on USB and another 2x 2TB on NAS, always connected - except that I have the NAS turned-off when not using its contents ... have you tried using USB expansion hub? that may work
Thanks for the suggestion sir raptor. Yes, I have tried it, but there are issues when viewing films when all of the HD's are connected. Parang the player cannot play flawlessly when there are too much HD's connected.
ang nakaconnect lang sakin yung hd na gusto ko panoorin ang laman
if sabay kasi nakaconnect alam ko mabagal magread and boot yung nmt
I thought of doing this as well sir Philip, pero problem is, when I connect just 1 or 2 HD's, as I scroll for movies to watch, bigla nalang I'll decide to watch something else in the HD that's not connected.
My point is, hassle lang to be connecting and disconnecting the HD's from time to time...but that's just me.
But then you only get to watch one movie at a time anyways so why power up so many external HDDs, not to mention your NMT has very fast and safe HDD removal/replacement function? Of course, there are cases na gusto mong mag-scroll through as many HDDs as you may have.
That's the thing...I can't decide what to watch until I see the list of films I have. Depende sa mood, if you know what I mean...
since mabilis naman magremove or replace ng external hdd isa isa na lang nakasalang din sakin.
normally me classification naman ang mga movies mo so alam mo kung san hdd nakalagay yung gusto mong panoorin (ex: 2012 movies, action, drama, etc)
Unfortunately for me, hinde sya classified into categories. Halo halo sya. I download about 1 720p film a day - 24/7. So at this point, it's pretty hard to categorize...but doable naman if I have the time.
1. yes, you can use usb hub (powered is recommended althought non-powered will work as well).
2. Mine I connect 4 x 2 tb. I can power on all these at the sametime, my Himedia HD600b can handle but of course the startup is slow.
3. I use a power extension which has separate switches. Since I dont really need all my hd running at the sametime when watching, I only turn on specific hd.
I have sorted my hd (4x 2tb) accdg to 4 categories so I know what to power on.
Anthology (movie series),
Blockbuster (our favorite movies, anime, cartoons)
Collections (Stallone, Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jacky Chan, Other movies, foreign films, tagalog movies)
Documentaries (documentaries, educational, korean series, etc).
Apart from this, my player has internal hd 2tb which contains christian movies, music and concerts. I also got 1tb and 500gb portable HD in which i sometimes use to the spare usb of the media player.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for sharing sir JT. Awesome way of managing your files.
To share -- I recently had revskie's 8 bay probox and help out on an repair (RMA with Mediasonic), tuwang tuwa ako during the test dahil for the first time i can see all my 8 x 3TB in one place in one storage enclosure. i was able to deduplicate my contents and categorize them to a certain way. Kaya hayun, yung mama di mo makausap ngayon dahil for the first time all his drives are in one place and active at all times.
This is really my dream sir Jim, but very expensive. I like the idea of the probox, really, but what do I do with all my external HD's - should I just sell them to buy internal drives for the probox? Pero kung ganon, how do I transfer all my movies into the internal drives when the funds for the drives will come from the externat ones? Hahahaha!
But that's a different story altogether.
Thanks for every ones input on the matter. Greatly appreciated.
