Samsung LED-backlit LCD Panels
« on: Jul 24, 2008 at 06:17 PM »

Can't say we're surprised to see 'em, but Sammy has done its due diligence by pumping out the official verbiage for the 9 Series LCD HDTVs that were leaked late last week. These second-generation LED-backlit sets feature 1080p Ultra Clear panels, Auto Motion Plus 120Hz technology, 1,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratios, the familiar Touch of Color design and a smattering of networking technologies like InfoLink (RSS access) and WiseLink Pro. Additionally, both the 46-inch LN46A950 (pictured) and 55-inch LN55A950 feature 4-millisecond response times, down-firing speakers with a built-in subbie, an integrated NTSC / ATSC / ClearQAM tuner, four HDMI-CEC ports, a PC input, Ethernet socket and a pair of component jacks. Look for each to land next month for $3,199.99 and $4,199.99, respectively.

This will solve LCD's slightly worse picture quality and lower your power bills a whole lot more.

hopefully local prices would go down to more reasonable range shortly... otherwise, the alternative is to import this from the US or something...

how much power savings / avoidance do we anticipate once we shift to LED based TV compared to the LCD version?

sir vic and others, kamusta performance nito? Mukha na bang plasma? Or still LCD picture quality? Natural looking na ba ang picture nito or mukhang regular LCD?

AFAIK, The newly introduced series 7 on May 8, 2009 are the ones that have LED, the regular series 7 that we have before are not yet the LED series.

I am unsure about the legitimacy but http://remalsales.multiply.com/journal/item/11/Introducing.._Samsung_LED_TV

I think there are indeed some stores quoting na cash price  below 200 thou for the 55 inches (have to double check, baka na misquote sa akin hehe)..Hopefully 120 thou na by Christmas.. ;D

Guys, I placed a reservation for one of these new models from Samsung. Now before I finalize my commitment may I hear a few impressions. If any, if ever, and a big thank you in advance.

Probably you wont be seeing a good number of feedbacks for awhile, since kaka-introduce lang nito sa market.

For me, di muna ako gagastos agad agad for a first generation product, malamang babagsak pa ang presyo niyan after a few months and the next models for sure will be better.

Pero I'm really excited about the wireless LAN Feature nung LED Series 7 & 8, sana yung Series 7 LCD nila linagyan na nila at sinamahan nung wireless adopter.

We (Carlo777 & I ) are looking at the Sammy UA40B7000 that is around 150k, so yep it's within that range. Also on our list is the UA46B7000 clocking in at mga 180k.

Nah! Anyway, if the LED tech is really nice, we plan to sell off our Tosh, and the 40A650 to cover some of the cost.

Yes, I'll drop by around Sunday or Monday late per our conversation. My points of comparison (bec. of the price of the unit) will be the Sony X, Sammy 6 and the PY800. If you have a Kuro, it will also be nice way to throw it in for good measure.

Thank you for accommodating my numerous requests. Mahal kasi ;)

Maganda yan sir, but 6300 lang ang phone ko and I get "green/blue" dots when I take screen shots. Kung may time wife ko, I guess she can do a video review and upload it over YouTube. It's something we've talked about and hopefully she agrees. Mas sanay siya infront of a camera and mas candid dating nya compared to me.

Plans pa lang yan, and let's just hope hindi kami mag sawa bigla sa hobby. Ako kasi malapit na :D

Just saw this 7 series yesterday at Anson's trinoma. Yea, very impressive and sharp pic quality, very very thin pa when you look at it from the sides it's like an inch and a half thick lang or even less. Black bars on the hd hulk demo playin produced very inky blacks. Almost as black as the piano finish frame. But after looking at it for a while, I noticed imperfections pa din. The display unit was a 40 inch model priced at 150K+, forgot the specific model though. I dont know if it was the material being played or if it was just me but the pic looked very grainy as my gf also noticed and agreed. Even from a 6 foot distance it was still quite visible.

Another thing was black levels were somewhat crushed. Portions which should still show details were already lost. In my thoughts, maybe this can be easily fixed by tweaking the pic settings.

And lastly, eto ang pamatay, there was already a dead pixel on the lower left corner portion of the screen and sakto pa dun sa lower black bar ng program material!

I called the attention of the salesperson and showed him the dead pixel, he looked very surprised when he saw it, nodded, and just smiled at us . I asked him if for example I bought one and I find a dead pixel, let's say within a month, will you replace it immediately? His reply was "I'm sorry sir, it has to be eight or more pixels before we can replace it." Ganun??! Yikes!!! :o Natakot ako sa sagot nya! Umm.. ok thanks! (with fake smiles on our faces as we left) ;D In my mind mag plasma pa rin ako when its time to upgrade.
