Any info if this is now available locally? It's down to US$127 in the Amazon Marketplace but sadly, without free shipping.

kapitan, no news yet whether it will be available in the philippines by x'mas time. hopefully its $99 by x'mas.

Malabo yata iyan. Parang bale wala yata sa Toshiba ang mga Pilipino.

In 1998, sabi sa internet, maganda raw ang Toshiba CRT 29", but I could not find any Toshiba CRT in our appliance stores. I ended up with a 29" Sharp CRT, a cheap but very good set. Buti na lang.

When I was looking for an HD DVD player last year, I could not find one in our appliance stores, despite the fact that it was widely available abroad. BUTI NA LANG!

grabe! 85$ nalang, wala pang black friday. with the u.s. economy almost in recession, mukhang nag babaan na mga gears. this is now officially less than 5k pesos with shipping baka mga 9k nalang ito. if not for region locking, best buy ito ngayon sa mga upscalers.

It's best to wait for Toshiba Philippines to market the XD-E500 here.

I was looking all over metro manila for Home Cinema Choice magazine with the xd-e500 review, couple months ago pa

. I was so disappointed that I can't find any.

..I love Home Cinema Choice

.. I'm sold on this player na.

I will buy one maybe the first quarter of next year. Sure na haha

..Kahit maybe small na the difference to other players (like my 980), Im up for the extra detail haha..

pag may definite hack code lang to region free this player. sulit na sa presyo ni sir toy01 at 7.5k. lots of review that this performs at par or even better thanthe 980, but cheaper.

Yup, you're right bro, sulit na sulit na talaga, but the one thing that worries me about this player is the region locking, sana pwede na i-region-free

This player has 3 mode for picture quality, they are SHARP, ORIGINAL, CONTRAST and OFF. For the Audio it has Bitstream and PCM mode.

Ive played them thru series of tv including the Elite 111FD and 101FD. They all look fantastic. I also included the Toshiba 52RV530 and Mitsubishi LT52149 for the testing. With the mitsubishi having the 120hz on the introduction has a lot of combing effect. But once the movie starts, that fade away. The combing effect wasnt apparent in the 2 elite that i use. Picture was crystal clear using the gladiator movie. Once i put an animation everyone thought that it was HD. The picture quality was very good considering it is just an upconverted movie. The only gripe that i can say is that it is not as vibrant and colorful as HD. But that is to be expected. With the proper tweaking and calibrating this machine is a force to recon with. This is a very good machine and the price is decent.

Lastly it does play boot leg and this is not region free. It is lock here in the US. I will include the picture setup later. I am still too busy with setting up my store for the early black friday sale. =)

Lastly as far as resolution is concern there are 6 settings from this player. They are Auto, 480P, 720P, 1080I, 1080P and 1080/24
