i met a colleague at work who happens to be a hobbyist as well like me. We had a good conversation about gears, speaker cables, interconnects speakers and stuff. he actually gave me the best advice anyone could give

while searching for what we feel is the ideal sound. we tend to forget why we went into this hobby which is really our love for music and movies. sometimes instead of listening and enjoying we end up doing an analysis on what else we need to make our systems rock !

he told me he used to spend all his extra cash buying gears (and his extra cash is probably 5 times my salary) even went to the point where in he built several set ups to listen to different types of music. one day his wife had a talk with him regarding his music on how he wouldn't listen to music anymore and spend more time calibrating and tinkering with the system rather than actually playing with it. to cut the story short he ended up selling all his gears and just bought a fancy looking mini component from abensons (sony ata or phillips) and he hasn't bought a single audio hardware except for cd's until now

anyway im not going to that extreme since i really dont have much to dispose. so all the extra money i had yesterday which was supposedly to fund my projector. i went ahead and bit the bullet and bought my wife an lv bag. i went home gave it to her. i told her i was saving up for a projector and i suddenly had a change of heart so i just bought her the bag early anniversary gift.

this morning i was watching a pirated movie on my old crappy lcd tv and it didnt really seem as crappy as it used to be. i was actually contented with it.

so i guess that talk really did work. im not saying i wont buy or retire any of my gears in the future. i guess with the help of another person i finally found contentment with my current toys

though with my act of kindness i am hoping my wife will repay my act of temporary insanity and get me a projector

Simon we have the same approach sometimes if we spend beyond our means but the problem w/ it is that could we hold it that long  ;D ;D ;D

for as long as you are happy diba? :)

Ayoko din yung uubusin ko oras kaka calibrate and tinker ...... kaya i do reserach muna .....how to install, how to operate .... kaya pagdating ng gears sa akin (like yung 508) konting learning nalang ayun tumatakbo na .... enjoyment time :)

di talaga mawawala upgrade itch with the changes in technologies and standards .... kaya ang motto ko is " if it works, why fix it? " ;D

congrats ..... enjoy your gears more now ..... and let us be contented. Not many of us here can afford what we can afford :)

Am pretty sure your wife is very happy with the spanking new LV bag :)

Killing the upgrade bug is like removing Pinoydvd from your bookmarks.

Probably you can only browse through "Other Lifestyle Items" in Marketplace and your wifey will love you even more.

Keep on browsing and we'll keep on posting! Enjoy bro!

I have to agree with all of you... lately I stay away from the audio buy and sell except accesories

I usually spend time looking at your new gears and admiring them

Also the watch thread looks interesting

Once you got hooked into HT passion, it's for life...there's no turning back. ;D

No matter how you think the bugs have been killed...in reality they are just being dormant & inert.

Meanwhile, enjoy the peaceful period without any "upgrade bugs" cos if they awake, it won't simply just an upgrade. It will be a full assault...you'll might suffer "SARS ATTACK".  ;D

Akala ko ba naman that bumili ka ng gatas para sa baby or nagbayad ng tuition para sa anak ... yumpala LV bag.  ;D ;D ;D

Maybe it's just me but how can you compare a PROJECTOR to a bag?  ;D ;D ;D

Syempre mas ok ang PROJECTOR.  ;D

That's the correct spirit! One sem lang naman. Paano naman ang kaligayahan na dinudulot ng isang pj? Ilang taon yun papakinabangan? Ang buong pamilya ay makaka-enjoy sa pj! Let's not be selfish, thinking only about our schooling, which can easily be postponed.  ;D ;D ;D

Tama lang na binigyan mo si misis ng LV, pet peeve talaga ng babae ang bag,  hindi naman nya masusukbit sa balikat nya yang PJ. Pero sabihin mo na tapos na siya ikaw naman ulit. "I buy you, I buy me...okay?"  ;)

Pag turn na ni misis ulit contact me ha...bigyan kita ng good deal sa sig bags.  My wifey offers lay away.  8)
