so transfer of 1tb hdd would be around 10hrs???
A 10-hour 1TB transfer means you are copying the entire contents from one HDD to another without choosing anything at all. That would be really convenient, but what are the chances of that?
I think in most cases, let's say a 3TB collection - that would be spread in around 7x500GB or 4x1TB HDDs. So if you consider the process of selection which is only natural, a more realistic expectation would be around 8 hours for 500GB and AT LEAST 16 hours for 1TB.
You can speed things up by transfering via SATA connection, but in any case, we are still talking of hours here..so everyone should really appreciate the time and effort (not to mention electrical energy) it takes when the so called "freebies" are processed.
And before I forget, full format of a new 1TB HDD is another 4-hour process. You can get away with quick (few minute) format, but would you want to take the risk of bad sectors??
